Insignia and Uniform

[edit]

The Insignia and Uniform section of this article includes information about the rank system of the RMBS, as well as information about the service's insignia and uniform.

This seems unnecessary considering that there is a Uniforms section http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/History_of_the_Royal_Marines#Uniforms at the History of the Royal Marines article. The information about insignia and uniform could be moved there, leaving this section with the information about the rank system and a link to the Uniforms section at the History of the Royal Marines article. This would also make it easier to find information about all Royal Marines uniforms, by having all of it in one place.

The title of this section could also be edited to Ranks, insignia and Uniform, to indicate all the information in it. Dreddmoto (talk) 19:02, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

The article currently does not have any photographs of RMBS personnel wearing uniforms other than ceremonial ones. It would be an improvement if someone could add photographs of personnel wearing any of their other uniforms, in period of history. --Dreddmoto (talk) 22:48, 15 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Colours

[edit]

Is there a reason Colours in the info box lists blue twice (as first and last item)? --2003:C4:DBCA:D11F:6C7A:F42C:A1D9:FDF3 (talk) 20:39, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Even though it is listed twice, the colours are in the order as appeared in the regimental flag. Since it's blue on top and bottom, and the corps coloured belt is also featuring it, "blue" is listed twice. -- BluesAndRoyals — Preceding unsigned comment added by BluesAndRoyals (talkcontribs) 16:04, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

RMBS killed in WW2

[edit]

Although fatalities of around a quarter is a shocking figure, I think Bomber Command is slightly ahead of that with just under a third fatalities; perhaps someone could confirm and alter accordingly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fr Gr (talkcontribs) 12:30, 18 November 2019 (UTC) BNSF44 (talk) 04:34, 15 February 2021 (UTC) Following up on the above, Under the Second World War the following appears: “By the end of the Second World War, 225 musicians and buglers had been killed in action, which was a quarter of their strength at the time, and the highest percentage of any branch of any service, after Bomber Command.” In the Military role section a similar comment appears: “By the end of World War II, 225 musicians and buglers had been killed in action, which was a quarter of their strength at the time, and the highest percentage of any branch of any service.” missing the exception. I suggest the Second World War entry is correct but have no data to state it as fact.BNSF44 (talk) 04:34, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ceremonial role

[edit]

Am I mistaken in thinking that the bands used to play in the half-time interval at First Division football matches? Valetude (talk) 23:40, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
