Common name

[edit]

If she was known as Zelma Huppatz, why is the article at Rosa Zelma Huppatz? We should use the common name and that would almost always be the name that somebody is known as. Schwede66 22:35, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I take your point, @Schwede66: but the major source for the article is the Australian Dictionary of Biography, which lists her under her full name, as does her war service record and the site for Australian honours as you can see in the References. Oronsay (talk) 05:34, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It’s common for those type of sources to always refer to their entries by the full name. One has to be familiar with what particular organisations do to determine whether it is the full name approach or reflecting common names. I don’t know where these particular organisations fall so can’t draw any conclusions. Schwede66 18:08, 21 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
