ShutterBugTrekker - Let's chat about your change before we get into an RV war. I read your paragraph as missing some vital bits (eg, you never mention that he's made Grand Nagus explicitly). Additionally, since you end the sentence with the embezzlement item, it seems to put undue stress on that. Instead of getting into some reversion fight, can we change the language a little so that new readers will get relevant info instead of a focused examination that minutae? Thanks! First Appearance?

[edit]

I just caught part of the Star Trek: TNG season 5 episode, 'The Perfect Mate', and I'm nearly certain one of the Ferengi was Max Grodénchik. I didn't catch his name though, so I don't know if he's supposed to be Rom. Can someone confirm? --Gero 23:46, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. Max Grodénchik is one of those Ferengi, but he's not Rom. 69.152.192.130 (talk) 13:53, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little Green Men

[edit]

Why is the segment on Little Green Men on this article. It's little more than a brief episode summary and serves no purpose towards Rom's character. 69.152.192.130 (talk) 13:55, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Character changes?

[edit]

Watching some of the first season again it seems like Rom's character was initially somewhat different than what he became. First season Rom seems kind of cantankerous and not as unconventional, by Ferengi standards, as later. Also there was no initial indication he was an engineering genius, quite the contrary, and I remember he was somewhat more devious in the early seasons. Later he sort-of became a lovable goof. The thing is these are observations so I can';t really source them. Did the writers ever speak of their view of the character changing or evolving? (Bashir was another who changed a good deal. First season Bashir is condescending and overly flirtatious. Later he becomes much more sympathetic)--T. Anthony (talk) 05:18, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rom's character doesn't start coming off as anything other than goofy until "Necessary Evil" when he's opening that chemist shop's lock. Even in the second episode he sounds and acts differently than the rest of the episodes in the series. His second-season character is arguably more different from his first-season character than any other characters. The only possible contender to that is Odo. I still don't know how he gets knocked unconscious by a falling rock... 69.151.117.228 (talk) 03:01, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Grodenchick said his favorite of line as Rom was when he threatened to burn down Quarks bar if he ever hurt Nog again.[1] -- 109.79.85.185 (talk) 04:47, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article (pages 54-57) repeats a lot of information about his past work on Star Trek and how he got the job that has been covered in other interviews. The praise for Shimmerman continues.
The makeup process was "joyous agony" taking over 3 hours which they gradually got down to around 2 hours (page 56) and on one occasion they it was done at speed in just 51 minutes by two makeup artists.
Rom received fan mail thanking him for his representation of single parenthood on the show (page 57).
Interesting ... but figuring out how to integrate that into the article will take more work, later maybe. -- 109.76.204.195 (talk) 21:38, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Star Trek Lower decks Appearance

[edit]

Rom shows up in lower decks season 4 episode 6 also voiced by Max Grondenchik. Should the article be updated to include that appearance or is this strictly for the Deep Space Nine entries for Rom 70.73.125.166 (talk) 04:46, 9 October 2023 (UTC) http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Star_Trek:_Lower_Decks_(season_4)[reply]
