New article created

[edit]

This new article has been created to cover the private company that owns four major tourist brands, and outline its history back over 60 years. Now that this is article in place, it will be possible to reduce the historical (and promotional) content in the article Real Journeys and reduce its reliance on primary sources.

@Schwede66: If you can find a few minutes, please have a look at what I have done here. Next steps are to work on the Real Journeys article itself. Marshelec (talk) 02:53, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looking good! I see you are still editing so I better stop mucking around; don't want to cause edit conflicts. But what you've done is nice and solid. I'll put this onto my watchlist. Schwede66 06:06, 27 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Registered office

[edit]

The term "registered office" refers to the location where a company is registered for tax purposes. Many companies are registered through their tax agent and in that case, the tax agent's office is the registered location. From the LinkedIn profile, it would appear that Wayfare Group has its head office in Queenstown. Schwede66 00:24, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Schwede66. Ok, thanks. I agree it is more useful to show the location of the main office rather than the registered office location if they differ. I will revert. Marshelec (talk) 00:35, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed page move and merge

[edit]

@Schwede66:. Hi, I seek your feedback about what to do with this page. The Wayfare Group has re-branded after only 3 years and is now RealNZ. See: [1]. I propose to move this page to RealNZ, and amend content accordingly. However, there are wider implications, because they have also consolidated the key brand Real Journeys that is currently covered by a separate article Real Journeys. That article is in need of significant work to remove promotional / non-encyclopaedic language (I was going to do this, but events have overtaken me). Plus the Real Journeys article also relies excessively on citations to a book published by the founder of the company (a primary source I think ?). A possible way forward is to move the Wayfare Group page to RealNZ, and then merge all useful and properly referenced contents from the Real Journeys article into the RealNZ article, leaving the Real Journeys page as just a re-direct page pointing to REalNZ. What do you think ? If this is a sensible approach, should I take any further steps to notify this intention ? Marshelec (talk) 06:36, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Marshelec, sorry for sluggish response. My life is a tad hectic; we are going to move house on Monday. That sounds sensible but it’s a big change that could do with a broader promotion. Maybe use a formal move request with the above rationale. That way, it gets broadly advertised. Alternatively, see whether a Facebook notice can get wider input. Page move and expansion

[edit]

After moving this article to the new name, I have been progressively copying appropriate content from the Real Journeys page into this article. I have attempted to remove promotional language in the original content, and significantly reduce reliance on primary sources. Content from the following sections of the Real Journeys article have been copied/ reworked and added to this page:

  • History
  • Vintage steamship
  • Conservation
  • Awards

The section on Air tourism needs independent sources, but these are hard to find online. So far, I have this: [2]. Propose to summarise into a brief section in history, since it appears RealNZ now only books flights, rather than operate services. I will eventually remove all content from the Real Journeys page, and turn it into a re-direct to RealNZ. Marshelec (talk) 01:38, 4 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All useful encyclopedic content from the Real Journeys page has now been incorporated here, and the Real Journeys page is now a redirect to RealNZ. Marshelec (talk) 22:05, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
