"Lowest per capita rates"

[edit]

A qualification should be added. This is for officially reported rapes. Do we also know what definition of rape they use? This can skew the figures.

We could(should in my opinion) add a brief mention for the outstanding number of very notable rape cases. 2.87.252.249 (talk) 03:44, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's incredibly misleading to say India has one of the lowest rapes per capita in the world. There are many cultural reasons and stigmas associated with reporting rape in India, which does exist to the same degree for other countries.
The degree of unreported rapes in India is exceptionally high. 2A02:C7C:EC48:5900:D9B0:765E:317A:33CD (talk) 08:43, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That statement appears to be well sourced. If you have a source that a large proportion of rapes in India go unreported, then perhaps this can be changed or removed. RegentsPark (comment) 17:44, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I took a look at some of the sources and modified the language to bring it in line with what they actually say. RegentsPark (comment) 17:48, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rape rates global plot

[edit]

Plot referred to: Reported rape rates per 100,000 population, 2010–2012. It is located in the Rape statistics section.

The sourcing of the plot is inadequate. The source is mentioned as UNODC with no further explanation. There is no further explanation, no link provided to the source. Saying the source is UNODC is extremely vague as it is a large organization that publishes multiple datasets. Futher, it is mentioned as "own work". Could someone add in a request to provide better sourcing? CuriousCognoscente (talk) 22:36, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
