I do not think it is correct to say that the earth is perfectly insulated by the vacuum of space. 1) Heat can travel though a vacuum 2) The earth's molten core is also a source of heat. 3) Radioactive decay also provides heat.--R6rome (talk) 03:53, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]


Merge. Both these articles make the same points about radiative cooling of the earth-atmosphere (geometeorological) system. Suggest the article is titled Radiative Cooling (geometeorological) to distinguish it from radiative cooling per se, as in one of the many ways in which a cup of coffee cools. Radiational cooling, although often used is ungrammatical. The cooling is not caused by radiation (adj. radiational), but by the emission of radiation (adj. radiative) Listening19 (talk) 20:58, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
