Independent coverage

[edit]

Are there any sources that cover this independently, as opposed to database entries or coverage of the whole album? Thebiguglyalien (talk) 12:50, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Give me a day or two and I'll look over the article. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 00:53, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Magiciandude, I've read the article and written my thoughts below. I have some concerns about the article's coverage. The article says a little bit about the song's creation and performance (though not much), but it says almost nothing about the actual song itself. I'm inclined to say that it does not meet the GA criteria, but I'd be interesting in hearing about the sourcing and whether it's possible to find more sources about the song itself. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 20:50, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

General notes:

  • There's no agreement whether GA should evaluate notability, but I still have some reservations about this as I indicated on the talk page a few weeks ago. If all of the secondary sources are about the album instead of specifically about this one song, then I expect there would be support to merge this into the album's article. This one seems like a borderline case to me.

Lead:

  • The body only says it was recognized by the ASCAP, not that it won this specific award. Either the lead or the body should change so they match.

Background and composition:

  • After reading this section, all I know about the song itself is that it's a romantic pop ballad about women. I'd expect more in-depth coverage about the musical style, the meaning of the song's lyrics,

Promotion and reception

  • It also served as the main theme – Note that I've changed "It" to "The song", because the previous sentence was talking about the music video.
  • Be careful not to use quotations whenever a paraphrase or summary is possible.
  • on the tropical field – Is this supposed to mean in the tropical category or something like that?

Charts: No issues.

References:

  • [1] Taft (2021) – Good.
  • [5] Cobo (2001) – The source isn't totally clear, but I don't think this captures exactly what it's saying. I read the source as saying he's written ballads in the past, but this is the first time he did an album that's specifically for ballads.
  • [7a] Critica (2001) – Good.
  • [7b] Critica (2001) & [11] Rivera Booklet (2001) – I'm a little confused by the sourcing here. Critica confirms that there's a salsa version, but doesn't say that it's by Sánchez. What does the booklet confirm here? If it confirms the whole thing, the Critica page seems unhelpful.
  • [13] Music video – Good. A lot of the time I see interpretation sourced to the video, but everything is good here.
  • [25] Billboard (2001) – Is there a reason why the article says "Tropical Airplay" instead of "Tropical/Salsa Airplay" like the source? Does this change the meaning? Otherwise good.
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately sources for Spanish-language songs from this era (not counting crossover artists) are hard to find, they don't get as much as coverage of English-language music does. I've done a few changes as suggested, but otherwise, I am withdrawing from this review and would like a second opinion. Erick (talk) 17:47, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Magiciandude, are you requesting that the review be closed so you can keep working on the article and maybe renominate it later, or are you requesting the second opinion option that would keep the review open until another editor comes to decide whether these are issues?
