Hello, Wikipedians. I've discovered a thesis written by a Cornell student in 2013 about the history of Prep style. The paper itself is not so significant for our purposes (though a nice read), but has a discussion on how an increasingly public HS educated student body regards prep. In essence, they are aware of it, and sometimes engage in it at social events, but it is still a mark of socialisation. Whether that socialisation comes via frats or from WASP grooming is not solid, but the concept is there.
