Squalid prison?
[edit]Not sure if this belongs in this article, or the one about Hefner. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1342643/Hugh-Hefners-Playboy-mansion-like-squalid-prison-say-Playmates.html Fasttimes68 (talk) 00:50, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
The dog Archie is long passed (I buried his ashes myself), so I doubt that problem still exists. Otherwise, the Mansion is an old structure (for California), and had (when last I was there, in 2011) the same maintenance issues that any older masonry structure has (it's reinforced concrete with slate roof), particularly with its plumbing, for which a full renovation would be prohibitive even for Playboy, and much of its other equipment is obviously antique and therefore difficult to keep in perfect order. At the time the above person was staying there, there had been a major pipe break and several serious roof leaks within a short time and the damage was extensive. It took over a year to repair all of the damage due to the fact that the Mansion is constantly occupied. I don't think it's relevant either.Ernest Ruger (talk) 18:26, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Location
[edit]There was no citation for Holmby Hills, and there are 10 times as many Google hits saying the mansion is located in Beverly Hills. This include the San Francisco Chronicle here. Until and if a definitive citation is given (and the Wikipedia articles for these two neighborhoods don't seem to give definitive borders), we can only give the address and the city. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:52, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Holmby Hills has no definitive borders, but the Mansion grounds are situated entirely within Los Angeles Municipality, and not Beverly Hills Municipality. Since the Mansion was, one could say, the keystone of the Holmby Hills development, I think you can feel confident in saying that it lies in Holmby Hills. The owner and all of his employees do. When I was employed there in maintenance and conducting VIP tours, I had to constantly correct this misconception. Should you have any lingering doubts, I assure you that when intruders or unruly guests were taken off the property, it was by the LAPD, not the Beverly Hills PD. I also recall that the property was governed by an aesthetic code restricting architecture in an area I think was defined as "Holmy Hills", though it may have covered "Westwood and Holmby Hills". see: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Arthur_Letts Ernest Ruger (talk) 18:13, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Pool grotto images
[edit]Lately, User:Suzannerondirsmith has been adding two files to the article along with text that usually includes claims that are not cited to any sources whatsoever. The first of those files has a copyright mark on it though there is a free license on the image page. The watermark says that it comes from The Dirsmith Group and Suzanne@dirsmithgroup.com is listed as a contact on that watermark. So, it seems that there is a conflict of interest. Suzannerondirsmith has been warned on their talk page about making WP:COI edits. After making a series of these edits, Suzannerondirsmith then added this file which also has a copyright mark and a free license on the image page.
So far, I have tagged the two watermarked images with deletion tags. (the third is just a fuzzy image of a pool and could have been taken just about anywhere) Suzannerondirsmith's edits have been reverted several times by myself, User:Flyer22, User:Tentinator, User:NicatronTg, and ClueBot NG. And to my knowledge, Suzannerondirsmith has not replied to any of the messages about her edits on either her talk page or those of other editors. So this is being posted here in an effort to get Suzannerondirsmith to explain her edits and why they should remain in some more encyclopedic form, e.g. not using self-aggrandizing language or the use of phrases like "our licensed wikipedia commons upload" in the article text. What are the "claims cited...etc."? If they relate to the Mansion as opposed to the photos, perhaps I can clarify.Ernest Ruger (talk) 18:31, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Playboy Mansion Macau?
[edit]I know that this project was originally slated to have been completed by now. Anyone have data?Ernest Ruger (talk) 18:38, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Architectural Inspiration? other misc.
[edit]I have noted a striking resemblance to Chavenage House, both internal and external, though the floor-plan seems entirely different. Does anyone know the architect's inspirations? There is a resident folklore ghost story of Mrs. Letts, to which I could add some. Is that relevant? I will endeavor to discover more about the pipe organ, which I understand pre-dates the Mansion and was built into it. I should be able to locate the fellow who did the recent renovation on it. Should I compose a bit about the Mansion's use as a rental venue for large party events and filming? I don't know how much of that still goes on. Ernest Ruger (talk) 18:58, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
Outside link
[edit]I attempted to put this in the external links section, and despite having gone over tutorials, I still seem to be doing wrong. This is a page on the recent pipe organ restoration which also contains a fair amount of information on the Mansion's history. I had intended to start inserting some of this into article as well, but I think I need help doing this correctly. here is the link: http://williamsonwarne.com/playboy_restoration.htm Ernest Ruger (talk) 16:12, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
- If you like, you can just put that link between <ref></ref> tags and use it as a reference in that way. I'd be more than happy to clean up that bare link and show you what I did to get it to display more cleanly. Dismas|(talk) 21:47, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Bobbie Arnstein page
[edit]Why has no one created a page dedicated to Hefner's most trusted partner
Bobbie Arnstein, considering she was a key player in the Hefner Enterprises? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stjohn1970 (talk • contribs) 07:45, 19 October 2020 (UTC)
