Consumption

The fuel consumption figure given sounds like the result from a non-run-in machine being ridden hard with a pillion (see the second page of the X8/400 review at http://www.thescooterreview.com/component/content/article/262-piaggio-x8-400ie?start=1 .. Consumption of any bike is not a solid figure. It depends of many factors, including type of fuel. Every claim will be original research, so maybe these needs to be removed from wiki.

For 250cc, you can have it doing 3.3 l/100km if you are not pushing it, but if you ride at top speed, then you can burn 5 l/100km. There is no ref for this figures and you will not find any, besides the manufacturers average numbers. Top Speed

Can anyone link to references that verify the claim of top speed? If not, I propose to change the claimed top speed to that published by the manufacturer. Published top speeds are on level ground. the 91 MPH figure is probably down hill.Smart51 (talk) 19:12, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

There is a speed/rev limiter at 147 km/h (91 mph). As the belt wears off, that limit can get as low as 140km/h. I have no refs for these ( and you won't find any), besides my own 40000 km x8250!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.44.133.195 (talk) 09:47, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Bear in mind your own speedo may not be accurate. I find it unlikely 22hp is going to get you to 147km/h. Do you have a GPS device? Booksacool1 (talk) 12:04, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Booksacool, the speedo is not accurate, you are right. On actual speed 147km/h it reads 152km/h on the display. I did the measurement with another car and both car and bike have been "calibrated" against the 5km signed speed tests on 2 different highways. This speed will only be reached on new belt; the older the belt, the sooner the "speed" limiter kicks in. I am now half way through this belt and I max out at around 142km/h.
