Jersey City Normal School
[edit]Jersey City Normal School does not appear to be the Normal School at Jersey City which became New Jersey City University. The Normal School at Jersey City was chartered in 1927, four years after the sorority was established. In addition, Jersey City Normal School was a school for African Americans. - Thanks for clarifying. I appears to be an assumption on my part, which was wrong. Is there an alternative in the comprehensive list of New Jersey schools? Jax MN (talk) 21:30, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- No, we'll need to dig deeper. Since the teachers were all minors, it probably was a Black high school. Rublamb (talk) 21:49, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- I now suspect that the sorority formed as a city-wide organization and was not originally affiliated with a specific school or institution. Later, its founder(s) may have been associated with the Jersey City Normal School after that institution opened. I have reviewed the sorority's history on several chapter website and noted a lack of reference to the institute. Since the original source used indicates that the founder taught at the institute, it is easy to see how that information was confused. For now, I have removed references to the institute from the article. Members, can you please let us know if the current version is correct? Rublamb (talk) 15:35, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Letters
[edit]I'd like to change the letters to the Greek ΦΔΚ. It is on the pin, and they do use it in places like https://www.nspdk.org/_files/ugd/c9c5d4_b6e3b66b0e804f5fb68d670e6e987471.pdf (the 100th anniversary celebration document).Naraht (talk) 18:55, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
- Makes sense to me. Jax MN (talk) 19:01, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
