About the title change?
[edit]This flight has same name and flight number as Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air Flight 251. So anyone has answers? Aircraft Crash (talk) 13:15, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- It's not unheard of for airlines to re-cycle flight numbers. United Airlines reused the flight numbers that were involved in 9/11 (until they recieved complaints), for example.[1]

- Like the TWA 800 in 1964 and 1996, I think the title need change. And also the 2012 one need change too. Aircraft Crash (talk) 13:47, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- I've converted Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air Flight 251 into a dab page. Hopefully there won't be a need for a third entry. Mjroots (talk) 15:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
Mayor died
[edit]Reuters is reporting that the mayor of the destination city died in the crash. There is no reason for us not to include that fact. WP:NOTMEMORIAL is a thing, but so is WP:V. Jehochman Talk 22:14, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Moving this discussion from my talk page
The consensus is we don't name the dead or survivors of aviation disasters unless they have a WP article. Here are just some of the many discussions-

Plus see ANI discussions here[2] and here[3]. There is one exception- the cockpit crew of the aircraft involved....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 22:15, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- Please put this comment on the article talk page. Thank you for taking the time to explain this, but in the present case I don't think it's quite so open and shut, and none of this is policy. Jehochman Talk 22:16, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- This has been discussed ad nauseum per one of the ANIs I linked to. No, the mayor don't get named. @Ahunt: who also reverted you....William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 22:22, 6 July 2021 (UTC)
- The above links are mostly about lists of all passengers. It's not that frequent that a mayor of a place happens to be among them. WP:NOTCENSORED is a thing and suppressing information from reliable sources for no compelling reason is unhelpful. Brandmeistertalk 23:01, 6 July 2021 (UTC)

- Yes, but in this case the mayor is not a notable person, meaning there is no bio on them on Wikipedia. As noted above we have a pretty clear consensus not to do this, plus WP:NOTMEMORIAL. Note that the town of Palana, Russia is a very small place, pop 2,920. - Ahunt (talk) 01:01, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
