Factual Information INCORRECT

[edit]

Pennzoil was not founded in Los Angeles, California, it was founded in Pennsylvania. Here is the source. http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/450222/Pennzoil-Company — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.244.1.247 (talk) 16:47, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

yeah, this is a bit mixed up. Why would it be called "Penn"zoil if founded in California?

I've found two other articles on the subject; https://www.encyclopedia.com/social-sciences-and-law/economics-business-and-labor/businesses-and-occupations/pennzoil-company (originally referenceforbusiness.com/history2/81/Pennzoil-Company.html) & http://www.oil150.com/essays/article?article_id=170. All 4 articles contradict each other, but, surprisingly, the Britannica article contradicts itself, saying that Pennzoil was formed in 1925, yet states that South Penn Oil (a Standard Oil spin-off) bought Pennzoil that same year. There is no information to be found about the Pennzoil company that they bought, although there's plenty of documentation about South Penn Oil's history. The uncited addition of "Los Angeles" was added 14 December 2009 by @Shortride:, but he seems to have a stellar editing record. Hopefully he can clear this up - ideally with a citation.      — BoringJim (talk) 21:48, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What does/did Pennzoil do? lots of buyout information, but not much info on what the company does. I sorta thought they sold motor (lubricating) oil? Feldercarb (talk) 20:29, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
