[edit]according to the book; Medieval Africa, 1250-1800; Roland Anthony Oliver,Anthony Atmore; the Pende were a offshoot from the Lunda-kingdom, it doesnt say they come from Angola, also between the cuanza river and Atlantic ocean there were the Ambundu, Portoguese, Imbangala and Jaga people .. so I dont see how they can be from there, according to the book, they emigrated from Lunda into a landstrip between Kasai river and Kwilo river in the north of Lunda, also the source which you gave doesnt say much.
