Coordinates
[edit]I got the coordinates off an old map, but there are so many stations/halts between Hallatrow and Midsomer Norton that it is impossible to be sure if the coords I added are for Farrintgon Gurney Halt or Paulton Halt. Either way it is fascinating if you zoom in on Google Maps/Earth satellite view to see the route of the railway clearly visible via the hedge line going north west from the location I pinned. Satellite archaeology in action! --Bob Re-born (talk) 11:17, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not totally sure of the coords for this or Paulton Radford and Timsbury Halt railway station. I do have a photo somewhere of the old trackbed & remains of platform at Hallatrow (opposite the pub we had lunch in) but can't find it at present. Will add it when I can find it. The old OS maps may help. The originator of these articles may be able to help with more exact coords?— Rod talk 11:44, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. It was. I have completely the wrong location. Looking at this map, the Camerton branch runs north of Paulton between it and Timsbury pretty much parallel with the Somerset Coal Canal. The station I tagged is on a separate branch of the line (they diverge just east of Temple Cloud at Cloud Hill Mill) and that branch continues south to Farrington Gurney then east towards Midsomer Norton. --Bob Re-born (talk) 11:57, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- I found it on this map, which also has the Radford & Timsbury station on it as well. Now to relate that to a modern map and work out the coordinates! --Bob Re-born (talk) 12:10, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well done. The photo I have is of the other line. Would this photo be useful for Paulton Radford and Timsbury Halt railway station? While we are at it should that one have a comma ie Paulton, Radford and Timsbury Halt railway station?— Rod talk 12:25, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
