Paul K. Hansma is an American inventor and physicist at the University of California, Santa Barbara.[1] His inventions include the prototype for the first commercial Atomic Force Microscope[2] the prototype for the first commercially successful scanning cantilever Atomic Force Microscope,[3] small cantilevers,[4] and the Atomic Force Microscopes to use them for quieter[5] and higher speed[6] operation.
He is also an inventor of the Scanning Ion Conductance Microscope, SICM.[7] The SICM has produced some of the highest resolution images of neurons and other biological molecules of any scanning probe microscope.[8]
More recently Hansma has invented instruments to measure bone quality.[9] The Osteoprobe[10] received CE approval in 2017 and has been involved in clinical trials at Barcelona,[11][12] and the Mayo Clinic[13][14]
As a physicist, he is the co-author of around 370 scientific papers[15] and over 40,000 citations.[16] Among the most important papers are the first image of a biological process with a scanning probe microscope,[17] the discovery of the molecular mechanism of sacrificial bonds and hidden length[18] and the first demonstration of a difference in bone quality between patients who got fractures from those who did not.[19]

Problems:
- The table of awards mixes minor awards with some that may be noteworthy.
- We don't use patents as sources per WP:USERGENERATED (they are a paradigmatic example)
- This sentence "The SICM has produced some of the highest resolution images of neurons and other biological molecules of any scanning probe microscop" is promotional and not supported by its source (content in WP needs to summarize the sources, not comment on them; sources are not examples here. They drive the content.
- Nothing is "recent" in Wikipedia per WP:RELTIME
- "received CE approval in 2017 " is unsourced.
- "Among the most important papers are the first image of a biological process with a scanning probe microscope" is unsourced commentary and is both PROMO and WP:OR
- The rest of the content in that paragraph and the next, is assembling a review from primary sources, which we do not do here. We summarize sources, we don't assemble them. Writing in WP is not like writing a literature review or any kind of scientific paper. (this is discussed in WP:EXPERT)

- The content is very, very commercial with the emphasis on patents and the reference to the CE mark. Hm. Jytdog (talk) 22:09, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
