[edit]

the point of correction, Galadima is not the traditional ruler of pategi, his a title holder subject of etsu pategi. so the traditional ruler of pategi is etsu pategi

PatEgi or PatIgi?

[edit]

Pategi and Patigi are two different places:

  • (copied from Nupe people#History):
Patigi, northeast of Bida (not to be confused with near-identically spelt Pategi, southwest of Bida, on the southern and opposite bank of the Niger River)
  • location of Patigi. Zoom in enough and it will show Bida to the south and a little west.
  • Google Maps, Pategi. Shows Bida to northeast.

The title says "Pategi", but all the text says "Patigi", and the text is so general that I'm at a loss how to tell which is right. Thnidu (talk) 07:36, 26 March 2015 (UTC); edited 16:27, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to this § from Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Nigeria#Patigi / Pategi --Thnidu (talk) 17:03, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Thnidu: Is there a publication in or outside of Nigeria which records the names and locations? In Texas we have the Handbook of Texas that lists even unincorporated areas (places not within any municipality). Wikipedia articles are supposed to rely on secondary sources such as books, magazines, newspaper articles, etc. and those may help clarify the matter. I know material on Africa online can be scant, so maybe a Wikipedian in Lagos or Abuja may be able to find something.
