Reception
[edit]I am going to put my head above the parapet.
This phrase ends the section RECEPTION: ...The film has drawn plaudits from Martin Scorsese and Peter Bogdanovich, was the subject of a lengthy essay by Jean Eustache in Cahiers du Cinéma and was lavishly praised at the time by Andrei Tarkovsky and Satyajit Ray.
I am going to say that that is a load of rubbish. I very much hope that I am wrong, but I just can't see those film makers waxing lyrical about On The Buses. Alanobrien (talk) 16:54, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
If no one has added citations to those critical ponderings I think they should be deleted. Alanobrien (talk) 07:31, 29 October 2017 (UTC)
'Box office' misleading statement
[edit]"The film was the second most popular movie at the British box office in 1971, and returned more at the UK box office than the year's James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever"
That's factually true but completely misleading. Diamonds Are Forever (film) premiered in the UK on 31st Dec 1971, the last day of 1971. It's a meaningless comparison. There must be tons more 1971 films that beat DAF just the same. I'll delete everything from the comma onwards. There's a citation on that text but evidently not a worthwhile one.
