Copyright examination of photograph, 18 July 2006
[edit]During Copyright examination of content possibly useful for the article, copyright status didn't seem to allow Wikipedia inclusion. Discussion can be read below. Note that this is not a final decision. The case can simply be misinterpreted and the situation may change over time. If you find proof or know for sure that the material is free of copyright concerns based on Fair Use or other considerations, feel free to add it directly to the article. If you do so please post your analysis below. |
I would like to add a photograph of former Gov. Olene S. Walker. The official Utah.gov website has portriature of the current and past governors. Is the portrait of Governor Walker located here usable under fair use or any other copyright tag?
Notes: I found out that the available portrait of Gov. Walker was photographed by Cox Studio. Also, the Utah.gov site has a specific "Copyright Limitations" section in its "Terms of Use". The applicable clause states that, "The State makes no warranty ... that the materials contained within [Utah.gov] are free from copyright claims, or other restrictions or limitations on free use or display." Do either of the notes affect any fair use or other usage of the portrait?

- I also found the same portrait (but a smaller size) on Utah Priorities. Their "Rights and Permissions" page "[grants use] ... of this content for noncommercial, informational purposes, provided that Utah Foundation is credited plainly as the source of the information or data," and "...that before any such use, Utah Foundation be notified how the material will be used, when it will be published, and for what purpose it is being used." - I don't think we could really make a fair use claim in this case.Geni 01:44, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Stub, no citations or photograph
[edit]I recently labeled this article as a stub because the article mysteriously stops chronologically at 3 January 2005. I will also point out that the article is lacking any citations and that it is missing a suitable photograph. --Iamunknown 00:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Family members and roots in politics
[edit]H. Laird Walker is partnered with Jack W. Martin and Scott D. Hatch in the lobbying firm Walker Martin & Hatch. Walker has 30 years executive experience in the telecommunications industry, with five years in consulting. Walker is "another longtime associate" of the Senator Orrin Hatch, father of his partner Scott Hatch.
is this her son? and if so should be in article.--Wikipietime (talk) 03:15, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
Wasn't Olene Walker Ousted at the State Convention?
[edit]Somebody told me that when Olene Walker tried to run herself that she didn't make it to the Republican Primary Election because she got voted out by the Utah Republican Convention Delegates.
Is this true and if so, can we put it into the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaydell (talk • contribs) 01:31, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
