Third tier of local government?
[edit]North Warks is the second tier of local government, concerning itself with one of the districts of the county of Warwickshire. This article ignores the fact that there is a third tier: the civil parish (CP). The list of places does not cover that, since, by looking at this list it can be seen that it muddles the concept. Many of the places on the list might well be "places", but some of them are interconnected by being a named CP - see for example Great and Little Packingtons, which are in fact one CP; and Shuttington (no article), which is teamed with Alvecote (which has, but is not listed here!). Heath Whitacre - look at its article, which says there is no such place!!!
In addition, and taking into account [1] the Wikipedia notes on writing about settlements], one of the recommendations is that, in order to reduce the number of stubs, villages and other settlements within a civil parish should be in one article. I believe that Moxhull, for example might be one of those?
It is a pity that so many editors seem unaware of the facts of local government. If they were this sort of confusion wouldn't arise, nor would there be so many stub articles. Maybe it is because of the small number of editors who actually live in the rural areas? The mention of the list of wards makes it even more complicated - they are political divisions of the District, and often include several CPs in one ward.Peter Shearan (talk) 13:03, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
