Only 12 prototypes were made? ? ?

Does the author of this article know how many preparation work and how many planning is needed to make a new phone model? The process from planing to prototyping takes up to two years for some mobile phones. Does anyone here really think that after all this effort any company can allow itself to make only 12 prototypes ? *lol*

Guess this wiki entry was written by the ebay seller itself. And the rarity of the phone has obviously the same reason as all nokia prototyp rarities - nokia keeps them, does not spread them.

I made mobile phones some years ago - and we used 50 to 80 prototypes ONLY for drop/scratch/water/aging tests, another 100 pieces for software tests and another 100 to 200 pieces for hardware tests, some dozens for housing, keypad, antenna tests .. and so on.. and thats only for ONE RUN. Usually there are 5 to 30 runs of prototypes until the software and hardware is working correctly (!)

Most of all, the machines and soldering robots would'nt even start with 12 pieces considering that the limit is at some hundred pieces per run, it would take hundreds of more time to put in all microcomponents into the machine that the soldering of 12 pieces.

Or does anyone think those 12 prototypes have been hand-soldered?? Do you think that keypad supplieres and housing suppliers will make you 12 housings? Absolutely lowest limits for housing prototyping is 50 pieces at least for most (chinese) companies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.121.30.160 (talk) 09:42, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
