Rename to "North Camp Pasture"
[edit]The reference to Perry's ranch doesn't fit the article cited. The only reference to 'North Camp Pasture' is this: "Chuck Wilson, the manager of the Hendrick ranch, said that particular parcel is now called “North Camp Pasture.” “It was given the name several years ago,” Wilson said in an interview last week. “Probably, I’m thinking, about five years ago.” " Obviously, this is controversial, since more accurate statements have been reverted, but perhaps people could talk about it here.----Beamish Son
- Reference gave conflicting info on timing but that is irrelevant to the point that it was renamed. That is all that needs to be in this article anyway. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:44, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Disambiguation page
[edit]This article still looks like a disambiguation page with a bit more of an introduction than previously. As an article it is severely missing references for the facts asserted. It is still mostly a list of links. I think the disambiguation tags should be put back and the page returned to being a disambiguation page. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:15, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

A niggerhead is also a term used by seamen for a cylindrical drum attached to an anchor windlass used to pull in mooring lines.

urban dictionary
[edit]The Urban Dictionary prior to this controversy showed three definitions for this word none of which had anything to do with Afro-Americans. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=niggerhead
1. niggerhead
An antiquated logging and trucking term used to define a large round rock or outcropping of rocks usually on an unpaved road bed that could damage a vehicle. "Now be careful up here, there's a niggerhead as you come out of the turn."
2. niggerhead
Being extremely lazy and/or stupid. "Shit bitch, all I wants to do is sleep. I ain't goin' to work, today. I've got the niggerhead, bad."
3. niggerhead
A strong black chewing tobacco, usually in twisted plug form Guy1: "Wow, niggerhead is a really racist name for tobacco, eh?" Guy2: "I agree my good man"
Your own Wikitionary shows:
niggerhead (plural niggerheads)
(nautical) A bollard made from an old cannon. An isolated part of a coral reef. The coneflower. Hard tussock on tundra; often moss
No matter what its origin the word is not offensive unless it is used offensively. And there is a lot of evidence that contradicts the Washington Post's reporting.

Add to Niggerhead page: An example of common usage of this vile term is its longstanding use as a synonym for a nautical mooring bollard. The reasoning? "Because they look so good with a rope around them." Recent experience suggests this slang is gradually slipping from common use.

Change to grammar, invalid connotation

- Niggerhead hunting camp, the former name of a hunting camp of Texas governor Rick Perry, renamed to "North Camp Pasture".[1]
This should be changed to "used by Texas Governor Rick Perry" instead of "of Texas governor Rick Perry ... Rick Perry did not own the camp, but his family paid a fee to use a portion of over 44,000 acres of land when he was a young adult... the connotation of "of Texas governor" is that he owned it .. and is just generally bad grammar

I suggest that the title "'Niggerhead' is part of the name of:" be changed to "'Niggerhead' and what often is considered to be equally offensive 'Negro Head' are part of the name of the following non-exclusive list of features:" and that the listing under that heading be expanded to include the following:

Chamberlain Rock - University of Wisconsin
[edit]A rock that was nicknamed a "niggerhead" in 1925, which has led to it's removal after being deemed a racist rock. Many news articles covering this, but they can be biased (either "yes boys we did it racism is no more!" Or "what on earth is going on here? Racist rocks!?" As the outcall of a situation like this usually merits) so I link a few here, and discuss. LucasImpulse (talk) 17:35, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
