[edit]-Under "Influences," is there a better way to have links to inspired works incorporated into the article? Note that the quoted links are from the article that I have a citation for in the subheadings. -Possibly more information on his background -Possibly the addition of a sort of Award section Currently we can't think of much that's missing, but we think that the article will definitely grow as he and his career grow in popularity.

External links
[edit]Hi, the article is good but there are not supposed to be external links in the main body of text except within references so all those links need to be converted to references or removed, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 01:51, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello! Are you talking about all external links (like the ones in the influence section) for us to remove and just cite a different way? All of us that created this article are a bit new, so we're always up for some help. I just want to make sure that this is what you're talking about before editing it all incorrectly. Thanks! Dwritingfreak (talk) 03:02, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- All those external links in the last paragraph under "Performance" should be converted to regular footnotes. Yoninah (talk) 22:53, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Goodreads
[edit]Hi! I just wanted to explain why I deleted the Goodreads mention. Ultimately it's that Goodreads is at best a self-published source in that anyone can create an account and write a review. None of the reviews are moderated in any way other than to ensure that they don't violate the basic set of guidelines (ie, no threats, anything overly profane, etc). It's actually not all that uncommon to see people deliberately review a certain way to impact a book's ratings and authors can leave reviews for themselves as well. (Hilborn doesn't have a Goodreads account, but it's OK for this to happen as long as the author marks themselves as the author of the book.) This is an easy error to make with sourcing, as the site may not seem like an obvious self-published source. I just wanted to explain why I removed it.
Sometimes stuff like this can be mentioned in an article, but only in cases where the ratings have received a large amount of coverage. The Greek Seaman is a good example of this. What happened in this scenario is that an author reacted poorly to a negative review, her reaction went viral, and people bombarded the book's Amazon page with negative reviews. All of this received mention several times in the news, so it was something that could be added to the book's article. Something similar happened with Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas and IMDb. Most of the time review sites only get attention when the reviews are reacting to something that is seen as negative. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 03:38, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
