New seasons/new iteration of the show
[edit]I'm looking for information on here and not finding it: http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/explorer/
Should I try and edit it in? Confused why I'm not seeing it. Timan123 (talk) 14:59, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
- It probably just took a while to load. I've now updated the most recent three seasons, but more could be done to link each episode to relevant pages inside Wikipedia as well as other media sources.--DrNewYork (talk) 01:06, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
Guns of America Criticism
[edit]Upon seeing the talk page of National Geographic Channel regarding the adding of Gun Owners of America(GOA) criticism section in the main article. I thought I would add the criticism section in the National Geographic Explorer article. Here are some sources:
- http://gunowners.org/a121708.htm)\
- http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=National_Geographic_Channel&diff=277833492&oldid=277320749
I have also added POV tag. 64.255.180.34 (talk) 16:16, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
Guns of America Criticism
[edit]Re. the same section as mentioned above:
1. The section is biased as it declares that the letter sent by Gun Owners of America "stated the inaccurate data presented in the show". A proper wording would have been "stated what it believed to be inaccurate data presented in the show". I have corrected the article accordingly.
2. I believe that adding this section was in itself a bias. Although the wording seeks to achieve formal neutrality by distanciation from Gun Owners of America ("The airing of the episode [...] caused accusation by..."), it is quite obvious that the author of the addition used the article to bring attention to another cause, that is only peripheral to the subject of the article. The letter sent by Gun Owners of America is one criticism of one episode among the many episodes that may have caused controversy in Explorer's quarter-century existence. Although I would think that the "undue weight" policy should include such cases of "article hi-jacking", Wikipedia policies do not explicitly states this. I am therefore not deleting the section but will seek Dispute resolution on such a case.

- I've removed the section as insignificant to the topic of the article, as it is not supported by any reliable sources. The first two sources are to gun rights advocacy sites. The third, Opposing Views, is an anonymously written summary meant to spark a debate, and the expert commentary linked is provided by yet more advocacy groups. The fact that some groups have strong feelings about a particular episode is irrelevant until reported by sources with "repuation[s] for fact checking and accuracy." New Host
[edit]I don't know since when, but the show has a new host which is Michael Stevens the creator of the youtube VSauce channel (just google it and you'll find ample of evidence for this). Can someone please update this (and if you have access, also the imdb article about Michael) 85.65.223.211 (talk) 23:09, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
