• ... that advice columnist Nancy Brown crowdfunded the reforestation of a clearcut during the Great Depression? Source: "In 1929, The News began a campaign to reforest huge swaths of Northern Michigan that had been clear-cut by loggers. The News, in partnership with the state Department of Conservation, offered plots of 40 acres to be seeded with new pines for a $100 donation. A letter writer going by the name "Andy" proposed that Experience readers raise their own $100 to seed a plot. Readers raised enough money — in small sums, 10 cents here, a dollar there — to plant 14 plots, a total of 560 acres reclaimed. Each plot carried a sign that read: "These 40 acres planted in 1930 by the Experience Column in honor of Nancy Brown."

Overall: @Gobonobo: Alright, the nomination looks mostly alright, as the criteria are satisfied and the QPQ review has been completed. My only doubt is about the source you've used, as it's an article from The Detroit News (the newspaper Brown worked for) and, as such, might not be considered as totally independent from the subject... Also, I think it could be useful to add a few pipe-links to the hook (at least for "clearcut" and "Great Depression"), as well as the year the campaign was started in. Still a good job, though! • @Oltrepier I've added wikilinks to the hook as you suggested. I think people generally know when the Great Depression was, so I didn't mention the year. I hesitated to use the Detroit News source at first as a non-independent source. As the level of detail there was far beyond the other sources I have access to, I decided it was better to include it. I think given that we're talking about a career that ended 80 years ago and an article that is otherwise a quality source, that we can safely use the source in the article for concrete facts without compromising our NPOV. I've added another source that verifies the reforestation project to the ALT1 hook and to the article. gobonobo ^{+ c} 16:04, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
