Not moved. There is a clear absence of consensus for this move. bd2412 T 13:31, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Moyna, Purba MedinipurMoyna – Moyna is the basic town/village name and should not normally require a disambiguation suffix. The Moyna page is presently a disambiguation page. One editor had moved the page to create a disambiguation page. I had moved the disambiguation page with a suffix. Now an editor has moved the disambiguation page back to the Moyna page. - Chandan Guha (talk) 17:51, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Raipur in Chhatisgarh is the base city page and there is a Raipur (disambiguation) page.
Jaipur in Rajasthan is the base city page and there is a Jaipur (disambiguation) page.
Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh is the base city page and there is a Lucknow (disambiguation) page.
London in UK is the base city page and there is a London (disambiguation) page.
Kharagpur in West Bengal is the base city page and there is a Kharagpur (disambiguation) page.
There are numerous examples where there is a base page and a separate disambiguation page. Normally, the most important place has the base page and other pages are marked with a disambiguation suffix. However, in cases where there are several cities/towns/villages with the same name and it is difficult to ascertain which of them is more important, the disambiguation page becomes the base page and different cities/towns/villages have disambiguation suffixes, as for example Bishnupur, Krishnanagar, Sagardighi.

When disambiguation is required to distinguish between different administrative forms, the base page is the city/town/village page and a separate disambiguation page is created. As for example Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Bardhaman. The base page is not made a disambiguation page. They have separate disambiguation pages.

In the case of Moyna, there is only one place with that name. The base page should be that of the village and the disambiguation page should be the one to have a suffix. Even if other places crop up later with the same name, these can have a suffix. Other names, as one has now come up, can always be there on the separate disambiguation page. - Chandan Guha (talk) 01:37, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In the case of Austin, Texas quoted above, Austin redirects to Austin, Texas. There is a separate page with a suffix for disambiguation. The base Austin page has not been made a disambiguation page. My point is that the base page should not be made a disambiguation page, except in cases where there are many places with the same name. - Chandan Guha (talk) 02:12, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The constituency receives most news coverage (as passing mentions in election coverage) but I'd propose that the village doesn't need disambiguating as the rest are just administrative derivatives e.g CD block. It would be unusual otherwise. In that case the village 'Moyna' would be a base page with hat-note. A disambiguation page should be created to link to the rest. No one seems to have considered the personal name as primary topic however. 'Moyna' crops up quite a lot as a feminine name. This kind of page would often get relegated to something like Moyna (given name) however. Cesdeva (talk) 09:18, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So I've done some digging. According to this source (among others) 'Moyna' is apparently an anglicized Irish variant of the name Mona. In light of this I intend to create Moyna (given name) as a re-direct to Mona once this discussion is closed. I can't forsee it causing any problems. Cesdeva (talk) 07:42, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In Bengali, Moyna is a bird. In Wikipedia, the Hindi name Myna is used. - Chandan Guha (talk) 11:01, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
