Paul Reubens?

[edit]

Are you SURE you meant Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens was a close friend of Minnie Pearl? I've never seen that allegation anywhere before and his stardom came toward the very end of Pearl's life.

Jim Nabors, on the other hand, was a very good friend and Minnie talks in depth about him in her autobiography.

I suggest replacing Paul Reubens with Jim Nabors. Agree?Sandcherry (talk) 03:27, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting questions.
I've added a reliable source citation for one of the statements regarding Paul Reubens. This article has a serious shortage of sources. If you have additional sources (about Jim Nabors or anything else) that you can use to expand the article or provide citation support for information that is already here, please add them. However, please don't delete the mention of Paul Reubens just because you have a source that indicates she had a professional friendship with Jim Nabors. There's no reason to think that she could not have had professional friendships with both -- and it is very believable that Paul Reubens considered her as a role model for his comedy. --Orlady (talk) 04:05, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. I added a reference to a Paul Reubens interview where he claimed to be friends with her.Sandcherry (talk) 13:35, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Forgot to remove the tag"

[edit]

I'm not sure I agree with the statement that the tag on her hat was removed because of forgetfulness. I had always assumed that this was part of her character's act, purposely leaving the tag on a cheap hat to "impress" others.

Of course this is just an impression from the top of my head; I don't have any verification of this information.

I'd like to see what the consensus of other Wikipedia users are for a possible future edit. Scott 08:11, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

``The price tag was a part of Minnie Pearl's 'shtick'. If I recall correctly, she used it over her entire performing career. 72.211.212.248 (talk) 23:35, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Date of Birth, Date of Death and Age"

[edit]

Someone needs to check the date of birth or her age at her death. Her date of birth is given as being in the year 1891 with death in 1996. This would have made her 104 when she died, but the 'Death' section states that she was 83.

IMBb: Date of birth: 25 October 1912

Date of death: 4 March 1996

I just tagged the article as lacking sources. The only one I found was under the Writings and Recordings section. 66.171.201.112 06:40, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny Cash appearance

[edit]

I know the guest appearances list is for selected albums, but I think the inclusion of a track she recorded with Johnny Cash featured on the acclaimed 2014 Out Among the Stars compilation of previously unreleased recordings qualifies as notable. 68.146.52.234 (talk) 16:08, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No comparisons to Phyllis Diller?

[edit]

I'm surprised that Minnie's delivery / joke patterns have not brought up comparisons to Diller's. (Laughing immediately after making a comical statement.) I saw many of her appearances on the Opry, and didn't make the connection myself, but now, going thru YouTube videos it seems to jump right out. Just IMHO. 72.211.212.248 (talk) 23:30, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
