A country with no military presence = Omission from this page.
[edit]As we know, ISIS has fell drastically from their 2014 hay day. 6 years later they have no middle eastern territory outside of Yemen, and have territory in Afghanistan and some dotted locations in Africa.
I highly urge future editors to remove any propogandic edits that try to assume ISIS is “everywhere” (we clearly see this by labelling of dozens of countries under “no military presence/covert.” When in reality if we did this for communism as an ideology we would have to list all the countries.
This page has to do with their military presence. Of which only a few countries have ISIS military presence.
Territory and military presence: Yemen, Afghanistan, some African countries. No territory but military presence: Syria, Iraq
However no military presence = NO INCLUSION IN THIS PAGE. JasonMoore (talk) 17:19, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
It has been over half a year since the submission of this request, and little to no action has been taken place. Will create a new talk page post for clarification then. JasonMoore (talk) 15:54, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
Adding the % to the absolute number per country of 3.3 List of nationalities of foreign fighters in ISIL
[edit]cf 3.3 List of nationalities of foreign fighters in ISIL, some countries are big in population number, it makes a lot of sense to add the % of population too. Is there a way to automate that via some code that it looks up the population number of a country etc?

- Just a passing comment here. I wonder what source would be used for the numbers. — Maile (talk) 19:14, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- That sounds like a cool idea, but there is not a current infrastructure to institute that. You're thinking of having a bot do that, but no such bot exists. You could potentially make a template to do it? Something that would code a percent. But you'd need to put the numbers in manually. I feel like its probably easier to just put the numbers in manually anyway. But as Male66 mentions, what would be the source of those numbers? CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n!⚓ 05:26, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

- I changed Syrian Kurdistan to syria because it was orginal research. At least you should add iraq kurdistan to. Shadow4dark (talk) 12:49, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- As none of the paragraph is referenced, isn't it more correct to say that it's all OR, rather than just the Kurdistan part? Konli17 (talk) 14:05, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

ISIS is no longer all over the world.
[edit]Whoever keeps insisting that ISIS is such a threat is inadvertently using it as a tool for recruitment (I.e “Look how big and strong we are”). The reality is that ISIS is no longer a global presence and the UN Security Council 2019 February report indicated there was only 5-14 thousand fighters left in Iraq and Syria combined (their hub of operations).
We need to start removing where they are no longer located. And we can say “they used to be active in” rather than they are active in said locations. And that would be for the actual ISIS page. Not here. JasonMoore (talk) 15:57, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- @JasonMoore: While I agree with your changes to the article, I would like to note that ISIL is far from weak or even defeated, and is still a a "global presence". While its strength in the Middle East (inluding Afghanistan) has been greatly dimished, ISIL has actually grown stronger in Africa and probably has more than 20.000 followers on the continent by now (with about 10.000 just in Nigeria, c. 3.000 in Mozambique, and hundreds in Somalia, DR Congo, and various West African countries). It is actually likely that Africa has become ISIL's current center of power and operations, ceding the Middle East to al-Qaeda. Applodion (talk) 16:35, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
