Terrible introduction
[edit]The neighbor who had saved his family appealed to him for the life of her own son, who was due to be hanged for his activities with the Arrow Cross Party. Kanitz's father refused to spare him, because, he said, "saving three Jews does not wash the blood off someone who has probably killed hundreds."
Beginning the article with this data is appealing to be apalling... Mmm, well not sure if that's the right choice of words but what I mean is that some neofreak has done his attempt to cast shadow into the man by giving this info that, if accurate, shall be presented somewhere in the article... But not in the beginning where it just eats through some people's desire to go on... Not mine... But others...
Deletion
[edit]Don't delete the article. The reasoning for deleting the article is flawed since all survivors of Holocaust are notable since so few actually survived (just a few thousand survivors compared with the millions of deaths).
Every single destiny in Holocaust are notable and therefore this article should not be deleted.
- I certainly agree that collectively Holocaust survivors have a history and a message that are very important to the world. I disagree with you that they are all notable enough to have an encyclopedia article on. Feel free to delete the "prod" tag, but realize that I may choose to send the article to "Articles for deletion" for more discussion. --Brianyoumans 09:31, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
Please do not delete
[edit]A collective is made up of individuals and it is individuals who witness. This man spent the last part of his life sharing his experiences. We must not forget. This is cyberspace, are we somehow going to run out of room on Wikipedia?

Death
[edit]His congregation's monthly bulletin states that Mike Kanitz (the name he usually went by) died at some point in 2006; his loss in Holocaust education is clearly mentioned in at least one bulletin, which I intend to add as a reference to the main article. Unfortunately I can't find an obituary for him. You'd think the local Saskatoon papers would have searchable archives for this kind of thing, but nooooo. At any rate, I'm taking him out of the BLP category and adding his death in article space. --NellieBly (talk) 00:25, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
