You can't eat a raw black bass because these fish can sometimes reside in stagnant water which harbors microbes & pathogens. You can only eat it sushimi style if you caught it yourself and can safely ascertain its environmental history. Tomato expert1 (talk) 19:57, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Any relation to the peacock bass?

I don't know if the peacock is actually a bass or not because it is all sorts of weird colors like the fish took acid or something. I only know of the black bass from the video game which lead me here to wiki Tomato expert1 (talk) 19:55, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Both FishBase and Catalog of Fishes currently recognise Micropterus floridanus as a species.
