Birthyear
[edit]Was Mickey born in 1936 or 1937? Hotwine8 02:42, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sources disagree on 1936 or 1937. Also some sources like IMDB list his birthplace as Nachitoches, Lousiana — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.122.109.227 (talk) 04:20, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]I have a picture I want to upload on the "Recording career in the 1980s with the success of Urban Cowboy" section, I have the file on there but it won't show up. Could someone look at it and try to fix it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Danieljo2013 (talk • contribs) 20:06, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

"Traditionalist"
[edit]GARTH BROOKS IS *NOT* a "traditionalist." George Strait is a traditionalist. George Strait is in fact the reason FOR the entire traditionalist movement in Country. Garth Brooks is borderline rock and roll. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.128.151.188 (talk) 19:02, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

What happened to the Gilley's Club article
[edit]It took me a while to figure this out so I'm documenting it here.
There used to be an article on Gilley's Club, which is now a redirect to this article. You can see what it used to look like at Old revision of Gilley's Club.
In this edit Schazjmd got rid of that article and redirected it to Gilley's Dallas. That may have been the wrong thing to do, as Gilley's Dallas is an unrelated club that simply adopted the name to try to capitalize on Gilley's fame from Urban Cowboy. Gilley's Dallas did however have a section on Gilley's Club so removing the Gilley's Club article may have seemed reasonable at the time.
Later an anonymous editor came along and in this edit removed the "Gilley's Club" section from the "Gilley's Dallas" article, with the edit summary "This is not history of Gilley's Dallas. The prior history is for a completely different venue in Pasadena Texas."
This left us with a redirect from Gilley's Club to an article (Gilley's Dallas) that was not related and had no information on Gilley's Club. So then Mandsford came along and, in this edit, quite reasonably redirected Gilley's Club back here to the Mickey Gilley article.
I'm tempted to restore the old Gilley's Club article, the problem with that being that it has insufficient sources and the notability is questionable. It is, however, more notable than Gilley's Dallas, in my opinion.
So I don't plan to do anything about this, but wanted to document the history here in case someone else wants to tackle it. GA-RT-22 (talk) 14:12, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
