I recently (8 July) attempted an edit of this page; it appeared for a while, then was deleted. I added to the last line of the "Rivalries" section the sentence "Of course, many would characterize the rivalry between CCP and SLUH as more of a 'Battle of the Egos'..."; this was to counter the quite obviously partisan comment (probably by a SLUH alumnus/student) that the rivalry between CCP and SLUH was "Considered the battle of the brains, CCP and SLUH often are considered the two smartest schools in the MCC." Since the latter was blatantly partisan, I figgered a rejoinder was in order.
Further - CBC High School was NOT "CBC on Clayton Road in the neighboring suburb of University City.", but in the neighboring suburb of Clayton. I should know; I am an alumnus of CBC. Its address was 6501 Clayton Road, Clayton MO, 63105 (the ZIP Code for Clayton's post office).
Further - Another MCC high school, Vianney, has NEVER been known as in this quote: "Vianney is often categorized as the "Greasy Griffins" after their mascot the Griffin." This term has ONLY been used in the SLUH student newspaper of 28 September, 2013, in an account of the 2013 football game wherein Vianney solidly walloped SLUH, 38-28, with the winner described as having "slid by SLUH." Oddly, this page was last edited in late 2013... As I mentioned earlier, I am an alumnus of CBC (not Vianney) and have lived in St. Louis all of my life and have followed MCC athletics for years. I reiterate that Vianney has NEVER been referred to as the "Greasy Griffins," save in that SLUH student newspaper. You may also check this on Google.
Therefore - Since my first comment was a rejoinder to an obviously partisan (and hardly objective) comment, I would request my original edit of "Of course, many would characterize the rivalry between CCP and SLUH as more of a 'Battle of the Egos'..." be added to the final paragraph of the "Rivalries" section.
Further - Please correct the location of CBC from "University City" to "Clayton." This was obviously added by someone young and unfamiliar with the area.
Further - As stated, I am not an alumnus of Vianney, but its teams have NEVER been known in St. Louis as the "Greasy Griffins" - save in that one article in the student newspaper of its rival, Saint Louis University High School, aka "SLUH." I believe this pejorative for Vianney HS should be removed.
My corrections may seem trivial, but they are made to only counter erroneous information. Thanks for your attention. Frank Schario Frank Schario (talk) 07:04, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
