- ... that Matilda Allison, blinded aged seven, "devoted her time instructing the blind throughout" America, thanks to a "wonderful education"? Source: "She being blind herself, having, by supreme effort secured a wonderful education, devotes much of her time in instructing the blind throughout this country"

- Comment: Nice (~daily) article, if you find an error, a better hook or you can see an improvement then be bold and do it. The quote is in the spirit of the original text and not exact. Thanks.
- Comment: Okay, here are two alts:
- ALT 1: ...that Matilda Allison, blind educator, was one of the first West Coast graduates of The Seeing Eye, with her guide dog, a German Shepherd named Betty?Sources: training in summer 1930California legislature mentions her training in 1931
- ALT 2: ...that Matilda Allison, medical stenographer, was the first blind person permitted to take California's civil service examination, which she passed in 1919? Source: "Miss Tillie Allison recently took the State Civil Service examination for dictaphone operators, ranking No 1 in the results. She is the first blind person ever permitted to take a Civil Service examination in California"

- Neutral article and long enough, created recently enough to nominate and with no detected copyvios. QPQ has been met, and the image used is in the public domain. Although I would only ask which is the footnote used for her death date, the article complies with Wikipedia's policies. I personally support the ALT2 hook, whose source I have included if it is alright, but all hooks are interesting enough. NoonIcarus (talk) 12:20, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Penny Richards: Can you provide a source for her death date. And would you be willing to reserve this nomination for March 8, International Women's Day? – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:56, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Pinging Victuallers as well. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 17:57, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Not having any luck finding that date again, I'm so sorry. I'll remove the last sentence so it's not holding this up, and I'll keep looking. If someone has Ancestry access right now, I'm pretty sure it's in a SS application under the name "Matilda A. McClean". Penny Richards (talk) 18:45, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
- Fine by me, and wonderful to leave this for IWD/Women's History Month Victuallers (talk) 22:08, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
