CLEAN UP: INTRO LENGTH

First off all...I can't wait to get this sweet sick game!

  • The starting of the article needs to be written in a higher standards view.
  • The Characters: playable, non playable, boss ect. All should be done in a table!
  • The Location needs to be rewritten we will wait for more details
  • A infobox is needed, so we can delete the Platform Section!
  • Images!
>x<ino 19:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Made the infobox with platforms. Needs a placeholder image.

SamuraiFez

Good work, now it's my turn to create a character table...will do that later!

>x<ino 13:12, 29 April 2006 (UTC)

All work done!...now all we have to do is, wait for more details about the game to be annocuned.

>x<ino 02:15, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Wii and GBA

I added Wii and GBA. It was confermed at this link

http://www.gamespot.com/rev/rpg/marvelultimatealliance/news.html?sid=6148498

Characters

Yes there will be up to 140 characters from Marvel Universe. But over 22 will be playable, and others will be a camoe. Which means, we need to think of the characters in Marvel Universe we think might appear.

I have split the character table sections

  • Playable Characters: all playable character listings
  • Heroes: Here are the characters that are not playable and are cameos, but we will change and update it when more info for the game is release
  • Villains: All villains will appear here, the villains will basically be the boss!

We need to think of other Marvel characters so we can add to the Hero section Other Marvel character that are not playable

>x<ino 22:56, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

You don't know about Nick Fury being playable. It is said he is on a Mission with your team, that doesn't nessasarily mean he is playable. So take him out cause he isn't a confirmed playable.

Silver Surfer is playable.WHO TOOK HIM OUT!?In a game informer article it says that Silver Surfer is playable. Who keeps on taking silver surfer out?

Really, why are people taking Silver Surfer out?

As of now, Silver Surfer is only confirmed to be playable in one boss fight. Buster Sword 21:07, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Buster Sword

Who deleted the Punisher and Hulk and the link to the X-Box site that mentioned them?71.57.125.86 18:31, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Heyy I just got an e-mail from Marvel and they released a new character, but we know it already, Gorgon of the Inhumans! But here's the thing, they made him sound playable, saying things like Captain America and Co. are going to need help with Dr. Doom's plan and listing his powers, I'm not going to change anything, because Marvel wasn't that clear on his status!

"Raven Software have reported that they are working in collaboration with Snowblind to create an environment similar to the famed DC/Marvel comic crossovers by giving players the option of combining Raven's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance with Snowblind's Justice League Heroes. DC characters such as Superman being able to be played in Marvel Ultimate Alliance, as is will be the case for Marvel characters being playable in Justice League Heroes. This feature will work on previously saved files from their respective games. However, as Justice League Heroes is available only on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, this feature will be an eclusive to the PS2 and Xbox."

^^WHAT?? Umm, source? It doesn't even appear that the engines of the two games will be compatible.

Cheap Story

Here is the official story:

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is an all-new Action/RPG that lets players create their ultimate team from the largest Super Hero alliance ever as they engage in an epic quest to determine the fate of the Marvel universe. For decades, Earth’s Super Heroes have opposed evil in their own cities, and on their own terms. But now, Dr. Doom and a newly reformed Masters of Evil have plans for world domination, and the heroes must band together to defeat them. Players can create and control their own completely unique team, selecting from the largest roster of legendary Super Heroes ever assembled in one game.

Now we can't copy it, the exact instead. We can change the words.

If no one doesn't want to change the words...then I will do it:P

>x<ino 18:05, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Will it be for gamecube.......?

Yes it will, there was an article confirming it.Whoever is deleting "gamecube" under what systems the game is for, stop.

That would be me. On the official site, there's no indication of a gamecube port. Even though some articles have been confirming a gamecube port, Activision wasn't confirming one. Therefore, trusting Activision's details, I decided to delete the info. But now, with your confirmation, I'll just bring back the info and leave it alone. I apologize for acting on my ignorance, and I'll be more careful next time. 24.98.43.130

Ok....who is the idiot saying Rogue is playable. They can't even spell right.

Dude....Loki IS a boss. He is seen in Dr.Doom's wallpaper. Idiots....

And your point retard?Just because loki is seen in the background doesn't mean that he is a boss.

It's been confirmed dipshit!

You can be abusive or you can cite a source. Ace of Sevens 13:36, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
If it is confirmed give me a link.

Are there any differences between the PS2 and PS3, other than the better graphics? Cyberstrike2000x 00:15, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Nope, just graphics. The only differences will be in handhelds and the Wii (Which is getting an extra 4 characters due to it's unique controller - Could mean people like Shang-Chi or Iron Fist are likely on that console. --87.114.20.54 21:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Silver Surfer unlocked via secret code

at gamespot.com's store section when you look up Marvel Ultimate Alliance it says if you pre-order the game from them they will give you a code along with the game that allows you to unlock the silver surfer so should the silver surfer be added to the playable's? here's a link: http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=B200205A

My understanding is that Silver Surfer is playable with or without the code, but to play as the Surfer from the beginning you need the preorder code.
Either way, he's a playable character at some point in the game. An EGM story confirmed that he is playable for at least one level. Should be moved to the playable characters. CPitt76 17:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I meant Game Informer. CPitt76 01:07, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I am sorry, but if you don't have the code, he will be a NPC, only will be playable in some levels. So, he must be in the NPC characters!!!!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lord Hammu (talkcontribs) .
Only playable in some levels is still playable. Even being playable on one level still means playable. It is mentioned later in the article that you need a code to unlock him. There is no justification for putting a playable character under the non-playable category. CPitt76 00:54, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
I agree. I saw the article you were talking about, it actually was in EGM. The interview stated that during the boss battle with galactus "one lucky player will take control of Silver Surfer". There was no mention of a code needed for this battle. Maybe the code unlocks him for other areas. Please stop removing him from the playable section. 67.85.255.138 16:56, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
The article was in the May 2006 issue of Game Informer. CPitt76 01:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
If The Silver Surfer Is Unlockable Via Code Then Surely He Should Be Listed Under The Unlockable Characters In The Playable Hero's Section!

6th and 7th-gen content for PC version

Just a question. In the case of the console versions it is known what they will look like and whether they have the 6th or 7th gen looks. But in the case of the Windows PC version of the game we have a game on a more open ended platform, meaning that it could have either the cell-shaded (6th gen) or more realistic looks (7th gen) to them. So I have to ask if the PC version will have either one, the other, or both with the next gen content being able to be accessed if you have powerful enough hardware (like I heard was done with Tomb Raider Legend). I know it may sound stupid, but so far the Marvel Ultimate Alliance article doesn't have this information up. I know it may sound like a general discussion about the game, but it would be good encyclopedic knowledge to include this info as the PC is a little bit of a different case from the game consoles. Vgamer101 02:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Versions

If there's gonna be a section for the PSP and GBA versions, shouldn't there be one for the rest? For example, we know the Wii version will differ in gameplay at least.... SKS2K6 07:58, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

wiiconnect

It has been confirmed in an interview with IGN that they like the idea of wiiconnect24, but at this time have no plans to support it: here is an excert of the interview:

IGN Wii: At E3, Nintendo unveiled its WiiConnect24 feature, which allows developers to continuously update content to the player even after the game's released. Are you planning on supporting WiiConenct24?

Evan Skolnick: We think the WiiConnect24 is an excellent idea, but unfortunately there is no planned support for WiiConnect24 at this time. IGN Wii: Let's talk online. Nintendo has stressed that Wii will be online out of the box, yet so far we haven't seen a lot of adopters. Will Marvel: Ultimate Alliance include online multiplayer?

Evan Skolnick: We really wanted to have the Wii version of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance online, but due to a variety of factors, there is no online component for the Wii version.

Playable Character Poll

Silver Surfer has been bouncing around on the character table from playable to non-playable for a week or two now. We should have a poll and make a final decision. A playable character is defined by Wikipedia as "a fictional character in a game who is controlled or controllable by the player". A non-playable character is defined as "a character in a role-playing game or computer game whose actions are not controlled by the player". So far it doesn't seem that anyone is arguing that he isn't playable, but that his playability is limited. Please vote below, either playable or non-playable with your reason if possible. CPitt76 02:27, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Playable - It was stated by Raven in an interview in the May 2006 issue of Game Informer that Surfer will be playable during the level of the game where the heroes battle Galactus. Additionally, people who preorder the game will be given a code to unlock surfer for the whole game. Links have been provided in the article and in discussion to different companies offering this code, and if you subscribe to GameInformer, you can pull up the Raven interview from GameInformer's web page. He has been documented by the game's developer as playable. He clearly meets wikipedia's definition of playable. To put him under NPC would be inaccurate. CPitt76 02:27, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Playable - If can play him at any point (which has been confirmed), then he's playable. JQF 11:48, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Playable - By the above definition he's classed as playable. Dac 12:42, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Playable - Playable at any point or the potential of equal playable. - sharp962 17:00, September 12, 2006 (EST)
Playable - per above. I have seen this and are wondering what criteria people are using to remove him. Playable for a part of a game is still playable; Professor X was only playable in certain missions in X-Men Legends but that's still playable. SKS2K6 05:29, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Since there hasn't been any input in a few days, it looks like we have a consensus. JQF has already reformatted the table accordingly and in a way that should appease even people who had a problem listing Surfer as playable. CPitt76 02:38, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

My question is, where did the citations go? I can't find them anywhere, so how are we knowing who's playable when it hasn't been released on the website? SKS2K6 06:19, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Good call. Some anon user deleted a few days ago and I didn't notice. I've put the info back. CPitt76 02:47, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Remove Unsourced

I removed four unlockables characters for they are unsourced, and for the record until these sites have interviews or pics confirming the characters they should not be listed. I may remove Nightcrawler later. Remember there will only be 24 playable characters in the 6th generation and 26 in the 7th generation, and 28 in the psp(according to Ign articles.) the discussion page is not a forum for discussing the game, it is a place where editors discuss the article.Merc25 02:29, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Removed Cyclops

Kalina wrote: Hey guys,

Wikipedia does not have all the right info. They don't have the connection to the developers and they seem to post any random info. they get, that's usually updated after the game is launched and they realize what the right info. actually is.

For example, Wikipedia says that Cyclops is a playable character and that's actually not true. He's an NPC and is featured in some cool cinematics, but not one of the playable ones for this game. We wanted to give you guys something different this time around. Wink

Kalina

this confrims that he is a npc.Merc25 03:01, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

this entery needs to be locked. people edit and vandalise it. the charcater select screen keeps being deleted and brought back

Character Table

Someone deleted it, so I put it back in. This seems like a pretty major edit, please discuss here before removing again. Merc, not sure who you deleted from the unlockables, but please take a look and see if they need to be deleted again. I grabbed what I thought was the most recent version of the table, but you never know. CPitt76 15:30, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Reverted

I revert this page to the time when we had a complete table, as someone keeps deleting without saying why.

That's Final

I'm reporting the MUA thread to the wiki mods. It needs to be locked for vandalism. Not to mention Spamers...

Ms. Marvel vs. Warbird

I have seen the character appear as both Ms. Marvel and Warbird on different occasions. Which name reflects how she will appear in the game? If this has yet to be announced, I would like to see her current code name of Ms. Marvel.

Unconfirmed = Rumored

Certain characters are unconfirmed, each one of them has rumored by it. I delete the rumored notes...because it means the SAME thing, why do people feel the need to revert it? There is absolutely no reason to be redundant. RobJ1981 01:33, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

Doctor Doom Playable?

Ok, I was reading IGN's latest Marvel UA feature [1], and they say they're going to profile twenty of the playable characters, one a day, and they give a partical list of who when, and it has Doctor Doom on October 10. Does that mean Doctor Doom is going to be playable as one of the main selectable characters? JQF 15:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

I hope not. I don't want the game to be a paradox (I believe that's the right term). If you play through with Doctor Doom, and he is a villian you encounter: that's just wrong and wouldn't make much sense. I would assume Doctor Doom isn't playable for that reason, but I'm not sure. RobJ1981 21:21, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, you could do it with Deadpool in Legends 2 (with humourous results), so I don't think they would worry about that kind of thing. JQF 23:17, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Seeing as Dr. Doom is the main villain, I doubt he will be playable in the regular story mode. If other modes are available (which is likely), I can imagine him playable in those modes only. RobJ1981 01:31, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Actually, the story just says they're going to profile 20 characters, not necessarily playable ones (maybe it's been updated JQF?). Although I must admit it would be fun to play through the game as a team of villains to get an alternate ending. CPitt76 02:19, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Oh, you’re right. I miss read it, and seeing as how everybody else on list has been confirmed as playable, I though that he might be too. I wasn't sure though (seeing as how it hadn't got to him yet), which is why I brought this up. And yeah, playing through as villains for a different ending would be cool, although from what I can gather about the game, I think you can play the heroes as being really big jerks, what with courses like letting Atlantis be destroyed and such. JQF 13:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Dr. Doom ISN'T playable, it is confirmed by staff in the official vip forums GrantRS 11:18, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Baron Mordo

I'm pretty sure that Baron Mordo is suppose to be one of the villians, as he's Dr. Strange's arch foe.

According to the VIP page: "not-yet-revealed Baron Mordo, who presents even more epic challenges for our heroes (especially Dr. Strange)"

Which sounds like he might literally "present" a challenge, but I'm thinking that he's going to actually be a villian in the game and be quite challenging. I'm just saying, he's a villian and should be in the Villians section. That and all the NPCs are hero allies. JackalsIII 14:20, 28 September 2006

Also, I noticed that Colossus is in the "Status Unknown" section but he was also under NPC, so I figured that was someone trying to type Cyclops into NPC so I changed it. But now I see someone put Cyclops into Playable Characters but not in the right order but that wasn't me.

Neater Table?

Might it be neater, or at least more useful if the playable characters section of the table was subdivided so that groups such as the fantastic four have a column of their own? It'd be easier for people trying to quickly check whether the whole ff are in the game?GrantRS 11:29, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

If the table was subdivided into groups such as the Fantastic Four, the X-men, the Defenders, and the Avengers, it would get messy because many of the characters fit into more than one group. For example Captain America fits into the Avengers and Defenders, Ice Man fits into the X-men and the Defenders, The Thing fits into the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and Wolverine fits into the X-men and the Avengers. Bondswalterppk 15:24, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

That's a good point, but perhaps people associate characters more with their original affiliations, so it wouldn't be too bad if we used those?

Removal of Hulk and Punisher?

Why are the Hulk and Punisher countinually being removed from the status unknown section? Whether the characters are in or not in the game is uncertain. Both characters are mentioned on the product information page about Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the Xbox website. <http://www.xbox.com/en-CA/Games/m/marvelultimatealliancexbox/default.htm>

and if you unable to see The Hulk or The Punisher on the Xbox website, here is a link with "The Hulk" and "The Punisher" cached

<http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:dilUFL9of9IJ:www.xbox.com/en-CA/Games/m/marvelultimatealliancexbox/default.htm+%22Marvel:+Ultimate+Alliance+(Xbox)%22+%22The+Hulk%22+%22The+Punisher%22&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1>

Bondswalterppk 01:oo, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Can you trust that website though? It has been hinted Hulk or Punisher may be downloadable for X-box 360 due to licensing issuesGrantRS 13:49, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Is it not the purpose of the status unknown section, to list characters that have been hinted at but, their official status is unknown. Beast, Emma Frost, Shadowcat, and Siryn have been hinted at just as much as the Hulk and the Punisher, yet they are included in the status unknown section without ANY OFFICIAL support. Can you really trust the Beast, Emma Frost, Shadowcat, and Siryn's sources. Maybe the status unknown section should be removed all together, since there is NO OFFICIAL support for any of the characters included. Bondswalterppk 14:47, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Actually I'd say that Beast, etc. have had less hinting at than Hulk. Also, yes it is a stupid section to have on the table, lets have someone remove itGrantRS 18:46, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Beast, Emma and Shadowcat were shown in a cinematic in the VIP section, and Siryn was confirmed to have a voice actor. They are confirmed to be in the game, they are in the Unknown section because it is their PLAYABLE status that is unknown. They may be NPCs, they may not, but they will be in the game. Until someone comes out straight and says it, or pics are released, the status of characters like Hulk and Punisher is completly unknown, with only hints, which is why they keep getting taken off the list. JQF 18:51, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Have you seen this cinematic that you're talking about? I have, Hulk is clearly in it. However naming Beast etc. as in the cinematic is ridiculous speculation. This is after all, Wikipedia, a respectable website.GrantRS 18:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

No I haven't seen it, it's in the VIP section of the main website. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the trailer for the new Marvel MMORPG, cause the Hulk is certainly featured in that. JQF 20:47, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I'll repeat it here, I've seen the MMORPG video, but I've also seen the MUA one called "The Ink To Game Process". There are also screenshots created from this in which you cans see Hulk as a beaten fighterGrantRS 14:54, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I saw the Ink to Game video also and there is no Beast, Emma, or Shadowcat. The rumor started because some fanboy took a screenshot of the video and labelled indistinguishable blobs as beast, emma, and shadowcat. There's absolutely nothing to suggest that any of these character appear in the game. 71.234.92.219 22:33, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Does This Game Have The Re-playable Feature?

According to what it says, it seems like the game can be re-played after it is beaten... Is that true?

It must be, it isn't as if it self destructsGrantRS 18:47, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

I believe what was meant by the question is whether or not you'll be able to replay the game after completing it, ala the X-Men games, with stats continuing from the previous playthrough (and unlocked characters). In X-Men: Rise of Apocalypse, for instance, you could unlock Iron Man halfway through the game, but when you finished it, you could then play him from the first stage on (I believe that Silver Surfer has been hinted as working this way, even without the code, once you complete the Galactus mission).

Spider-Woman

is there any spiderwoman screenshots? where is she confirmed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seth494 (talkcontribs) 21:37, October 1, 2006

She was confirmed in a video that was leaked on the VIP page, which also confirmed a number of other characters, which was quickly taken down after this was discovered. Read the comments under the character table for info about each character revelation. JQF 13:35, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Double Characters??

We know for a fact about iron man/war machine, and thor/beta ray bill and cap/us agent seems likley, but do we have any proof of nick fury/punisher or daredevil/iron fistCnriaczoy42 21:07, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

Marvelous Vehicles?

When I First Read About This Game, Many Sites Mentioned That You Could Create And Customise Your Own Team Vehicle. However I Have Not Heard Anything About This Since. Does Anyone Know Anything About This?

"Players can form their favorite Marvel dream team, create their own team name, team icon, team vehicle and establish a team reputation...

Kalina, the insider from the VIP boards has confirmed the idea of including vehicles was scrapped very early on it the games developmentGrantRS 22:59, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Deadpool: Agent X Costume?

Where was this confirmed?

On another note, where was Deadpool confirmed even? As playable at least... The only mention of him is in a deleted video. Could it have been deleted because he's been removed for some reason?

Also, while it's been confirmed on the VIP site that Spider-Man's fourth costume is the symbiote costume, that doesn't mean it's Venom... It could just be Spider-Man in the black costume he's returnign to after Civil War.

Voice Actors Vandalism

the section has been vandalize, so I removing all the VAs metioned. If someone knows the correct ones please add them in and cite sources.Merc25 23:05, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

PEOPLE! STOP VANDALIZING!

First, Deadpool and Spider-Woman are not confirmed as next-gen. Take them off and leave it. Second, Zarathos was a photoshopping, and he is not an official skin. Third, VIP links prove nothing as many people can't see them, and WIkipedia is a place for all. OK? 70.229.31.188 15:29, 11 October 2006 (UTC)rideonshootingstarxx,

also some stop this guy Cobravenom 1877 he added a lot of crap to the site icluding deleting some sections.

Protection

Can somebody get this page to be protected? With the release date for the majority of the systems comming up, vandalism on the character section is getting out of control. JQF 17:52, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Can this page get some protection? As anybody whose seen the history knows, it really needs it. JQF 15:43, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Stop Spliting the Character Section

To LloydyJr and Cobravenom 1877, stop trying to split the playable characters section. You are removing them from the spot where they are best put, and putting them in another section is just adding to the length of the article. The table you are editing will end up only having three sections (per norm) after all games are released, made up of Playable Characters (the only subsections being Unlockable and Exclusives), NPCs and Villians/Enemies. Characters that appear under as alternate skins still fall under Playable Characters, thus the reason the table is set up the way it is. JQF 18:10, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair Enough! Personally I Don't Really Care How The Page Is Set Out, I Just Wanted To See If I Could Actually Get The Hang Of Editing It! Earlier It Had A Few X-Men Villains Such As Magneto & Juggernaut And 2 Spidey Classics - Venom & Carnage (Who Are Hope Is In The Game)... Are They Actually In It? —Preceding unsigned comment added by LloydyJr (talkcontribs) 14:18, October 11, 2006

Ok, word of advise, if you want to see how your editing turns out, use the show preview or the Sandbox to mess around and see what you can do, without actually saving it to the page. Doing it on actual pages has a tendency of getting people to thing your a vandal, which I don't think you want. JQF 18:23, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

DR. STRANGE IS NOT UNLOCKABLE, DO NOT CHANGE

Whoever is changing Dr. Strange to unlockable STOP! Listen very closely why, not only was he announced as playable, it is been officially said that all the main playable characters (the main 20+) will all be unlocked as the game progresses onward as in X-Men Legends I. Characters like Daredevil, Silver Surfer, Nick Fury and Black Panther are unlockable at game's end! Do not change Dr. Strange again! pho3nixflame69

Dr Strange -is- unlockable. You get him after he helps you fight Grey Gargoyle. He's not there from the beginning. 24.217.231.225 00:46, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Neither is other characters! Characters are unlockable as you go on!!! The unlockables like Daredevil, Nick Fury, Black Panther and Silver Surfer are unlockable at the end of the game, and besides all that, they wouldn't have announced Dr. Strange that early if he was an exclusive unlockable, so don't even argue anymore about it, it's done, Dr. Strange is NOT unlockable, it's been announced officially by the official website! Leave it alone! pho3nixflame69

Right, if that was the case, the only characters that are Playable from the very beginning would just be: Wolverine, Spider-Man, Thor, and Captain America. Every single other character would be considered unlockable. JackalsIII 14:12, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Exactly! THANK YOU for actually understanding JackalsIII! Like I said it's like X-Men Legends! pho3nixflame69
