His Bio
[edit]If you want a clear source, use this https://www.army.mod.uk/news-and-events/news/2018/05/new-chief-of-the-general-staff-appointed/. It ignores his Director UKSF command naturally but all else is correct.

Talk about Russsia
[edit]Preparations for a possible war with Russia
[edit]In his speech at the RUSI Land Warfare Conference in June 2018, Carleton-Smith said that British troops should be prepared to "fight and win" against the "imminent" threat of hostile Russia.[1][2][3] Carleton-Smith said: "The misplaced perception that there is no imminent or existential threat to the UK - and that even if there was it could only arise at long notice - is wrong, along with a flawed belief that conventional hardware and mass are irrelevant in countering Russian subversion...".[3][4]
In a November 2018 interview with the Daily Telegraph, Carleton-Smith said that "Russia today indisputably represents a far greater threat to our national security than Islamic extremist threats such as al-Qaeda and ISIL. ... We cannot be complacent about the threat Russia poses or leave it uncontested."[5] "The physical manifestation of the Islamist threat has diminished with the complete destruction of the geography of the so-called Caliphate."[6]
- I moved this here as this isn't a core topic for biograhpies of people. It singles out Carleton-Smith as the only one givening the talk about the Russian threat when clearly SIS Director, M15 Director, his predecessor and others have also mentioned it. This whole section is not necessary.
