Last Emperor of China Comment

[edit]

The claim that "The last Emperor of China, Yuan Shikai, abdicates the throne and the Republic of China is restored.[5]" is contradicted by the main WP article (see: Emperor_of_China#Origin_and_history), which states "The Xuantong Emperor (Puyi) of the Qing dynasty, the de jure last Emperor of China, abdicated on 12 February 1912. He was briefly restored for almost two weeks during a coup in 1917 but was overthrown again shortly after". JezGrove (talk) 15:18, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks for pointing that out. I've removed it. Toddst1 (talk) 15:36, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity and nationality in Wikipedia?

[edit]

1936 – Roger Whittaker, Kenyan-English singer-songwriter and guitarist When I hover over the wikilink to his bio, I see that he is described as "a British singer-songwriter and musician, who was born in Nairobi to English parents". It seems to me that while he lived in Kenya, he was English–Kenyan, and once he permanently emigrated from Kenya to the UK, he became simply English. If he moved to the United States at some point, then he was or is an English–American. Can someone point me to Wikipedia policy regarding the determination of a person's ethnicity and/or nationality? Thanks in advance. —71.105.243.101 (talk) 09:32, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Addition of another birth

[edit]

Add the below line, right above the birth of Dimitrios Meliopoulos.

1997 has been linked somewhere above at tara Lipinski, thus there is no need to link it again. There are multiple sources on the web which describe that person's details, I am just not sure which reference is best to support the evidence of my request.197.0.232.75 (talk) 21:10, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Please provide a reliable source. Knowledgegatherer23 (Say Hello) 21:44, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the sources I found. Any of these should be relevant enough:

Gee, I hope any of those above could help.197.0.232.75 (talk) 22:16, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In order:
  • The ESPN source is useless for this claim (too sparse). Statlines are never acceptable sources for claims like this simply because of the lack of details. (Birthdate is considered controversial enough that BLP applies.)
  • The WhoScored source is useless for this claim for the same reasons as ESPN.
  • The Fox Sports source is useless for this claim for the same reasons as ESPN and WhoScored.
  • The as.com source is useless for this claim for the same reasons as the previous three sources.
  • The Eurosport source is useless for this claim for the same reasons as the previous four sources.
  • We can't use Transfermarkt (no editorial oversight). WikiProject Football has questioned Transfermarkt's practices in re their coverage, and I see no reason to disagree with them.
You need to come up with a more in-depth source - say, an actual news story - that discusses him and includes the birth date. Statlines will not cut it. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v Source assessment notes 22:54, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
