[edit]The current version of the article uses the term "non-Euclidean geometry" not consistent with its mathematical meaning. The *geometry* in both Antichamber and Manifold Garden is Euclidean, but the *topology* is weird (Antichamber is also weird for some other reasons). Also "Chyr observed that the game may appear to have non-Euclidean geometry similar to the game Antichamber.[5]" appears that [5] is the source of that quote, but it is actually some article about Antichamber. The mathematically correct term is Euclidean (flat) manifold. I have no idea how to fix this nicely. 83.6.24.24 (talk) 19:29, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
- I found a GDC presentation that he uses the term "impossible geometry" and clearly distances it from non-Euclidean [2]. An issue that I think needs to be clear is that if you google "Manifold garden non-euclidian" you get a LOT of hits, meaning it is a misconception about what non-Euclidean means. --Masem (t) 19:47, 21 October 2019 (UTC)
Update to Assets
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hi, this is William Chyr, the creator of Manifold Garden. First, I want to disclose that I have a clear and obvious conflict of interest here, and as such I am not editing the article.
I'd like to request an update to the assets shown on the page. Back in June 2016, Wikipedia contributor Czar was working on the Manifold Garden article and emailed me requesting that I provide assets under the Wikipedia-compatible free license. I sent the files with the standard Wikipedia consent text to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org and cc'd Czar.
Manifold Garden was in development for 7 years and released in 2019. However, the assets on the page are still from 2016 and do not accurately reflect what the final game looks like. The video currently on the page shows gameplay footage from a much earlier, unreleased version. Manifold Garden's art style has been refined significantly since then (as can be seen in the release date trailer), and the level that is shown in the video has undergone major changes. The design of the cubes, trees, and lasers have all been modified. I can provide updated gameplay footage of the game in its released state to replace this video.
Additionally, I think there is a better logo of the game for the infobox section. Currently, the infobox uses the horizontal version of the logo with just the text "MANIFOLD GARDEN" against a transparent background. This looks pretty awkward with the Wikipedia formatting. A better option is the vertical cover art, which is used in the Microsoft store for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. Another option is the logo shown on the steam page where "MANIFOLD GARDEN" is displayed against a background containing an orthographic projection of some level geometry. It's provided in the official presskit as well.
Let me know how I can submit some updated assets for the game.
P.S. I don't know how to verify my identity here, but you are welcome to contact me via the email provided in the Manifold Garden website to confirm.

- Going off the prior images that we have here, Czar likely worked with you to gain your consent for the older versions to be put into the Creative Commons (see: [3] as an example of how this comes out from licensing). This method still works, and the easiest way to do that for any images (stills and movies) would be to follow the instructions that we have over at WP:CONSENT from an email address that would also verify your identity (basically what you did last time). This all goes to a special ticket system (ORTS) seen by trusted administrators that will verify all is okay (that you are who you say you are, etc.) This would also go for the logo against the typical geometry of the game (the text-only version, under US copyright law, is uncopyrightable so we can use that easily, but if we have a Creative Commons version of those press kit logos, we can use that instead).
- The only thing I think we'd want to confirm is what images you'd like to have used as Creative Commons (by URL) that you would clear through this email, as then we can upload those images so that the ORTS request is properly tagged to them. While you could say "all the pictures at the press kit URL", I'd think it would better to say the specific URLs, eg [4] for the logo, and so on, so there's no question and if you change your press kit later, we're still using the ones you cleared at this point.
- @Czar:'s done this plenty of other times for other devs so I'll let them verify if I'm right. --Masem (t) 04:33, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Incorrect Composers
[edit]Hi again, I just wanted to point out an error on the page.
Currently, both Martin Kvale and Laryssa Okada are listed as composers of the game. This is incorrect. Martin Kvale was the Sound Designer and Laryssa Okada was the sole composer. Here is the link to the Manifold Garden presskit where you can see their titles listed: https://manifold.garden/presskit/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by WarAndPiece (talk • contribs) 03:19, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
