Island v Mainland
[edit]I have tried reading a few things on this in regards to Australia. If the Australian (Sahul) continent is made of 3 islands. Why is the biggest referred to as the mainland? Yet in the continent of Zealandia neither the south or north islands are referred to as the mainland. Continent Australia has 3 large islands so does Zealandia, so why the usage of mainland for and not the other?
Antarctica also made up of multiple islands but are connected by ice, leaving it as single continent.
This does not apply to the Americas or Afro-Eurasian continent as they have multiple connecting shelves and landmass. 2001:FB1:D2:3118:805C:4D8C:71A:84CB (talk) 21:45, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
