[edit]I think if you asked any ethnomusicologist about the importance of Madé Lebah to the history of Balinese music and dance there would be no question of his notablility. Just because there are few English Language sources doesn't mean that he is not notable. If Wikipedia editor are take this tact with artists from around the world, Wikipedia will be heavily biased towards Western, English language, artists. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia for the entire globe. I believe that the question of notability cannot just be decided by article counts and google searches. If an Ethnomusicologist were to challage this, I'd be willing to discuss it further. -- SamuelWantman 21:32, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Warren (in the library summary of the cited chapter) mentions the travelling of the world by
the peliatan gamelan and the effect of the performances at the Paris Colonial Exhibition in 1931 -
- the wikipedia english article about the 1931 event has nothing about performances of any sort -
- travel books of bali and indonesia regularly fail to mention the significance of the legacy of peliatan
- ethnomusicology of indonesia on english wikipedia is variegated - some items in javanese gamelan are detailed to the point of minutiae - whereas things and places outside of java hardly get a mention. Balinese culture and cultural history are not always in the territory of easy online access... JarrahTree 01:23, 1 February 2023 (UTC)
