- and also if there are any corrections needing made please let me know BlazeCloneYT (talk) 21:15, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- ive been looking into this and was wondering if this is called a DD113 or DD123, ive been looking but can't find any info to confirm which one it is BlazeCloneYT (talk) 21:43, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
- okay i have confirmed that the electric one is called DD113EV, however the diesel one may still be a DD123 BlazeCloneYT (talk) 21:48, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
Notability?
[edit]If I'm going to be very frank, I don't see the point of this article and think it risks failing WP:NOTABILITY. MCV isn't exactly marketing the DD113 and DD123 heavily as its own product when compared to the then-unique DD103 on the B9TL back in the day and the EvoSeti (also, the only verifiable source I can find mentioning the DD123 on B8L is from an employee LinkedIn post), and a lot of the delivery information has already been written in the Volvo BZL article, therefore it might be considered redundant by some - not to mention ripping the infobox directly from the article without removing the Australian charging info isn't a good look.
If its your first article, then its a good effort, though I would've been open to co-operation by suggesting the idea on the BZL talk page. Hullian111 (talk) 06:43, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
- Although MCV aren’t heavily marketing these buses in the UK, they are in other countries such as egypt. As well the delivery information is something i was hoping to look into. As they are sold through Volvo in the UK and MCV in egypt, i was unsure how to approach it.
- I think its important to distinguish that the Volvo BZL is a chassis, And that the MCV Electric Buses (while made in partnership with Volvo) are also MCV products, which are essentially face-lifted Evora/Evoseti bodyworks.
- With reference to the D123 you appear to have been looking for a ‘DD123’ as i did initially, rather than ‘D123’ which most sources are pointing towards (especially considering the D113 EV). I’m hopeful that more reliable sources are available for this soon, as you did say there isn’t much to back it up.
- Hopefully this helps clear a few things up but either way I’m still open to discussion on this topic BlazeClone (talk) 09:04, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- To add onto this, there is a seperate brochure for the D113 EV from the BZL

- Hi, sorry if I was a bit brash about it and for the late reply. Been a bit busy in the meantime, but I've been considering my options on this for a little while, and here's my take:
Although MCV aren’t heavily marketing these buses in the UK, they are in other countries such as egypt. As well the delivery information is something i was hoping to look into. As they are sold through Volvo in the UK and MCV in egypt, i was unsure how to approach it.
- I think the only sticking point if you're talking about other markets would be the article name. MCV's got the D123 (or whatever its called) going on the Volvo B8L chassis for Hong Kong operators, and I'd be interested to see if similar designs to it make an impact outside HK. In the article context, maybe this could serve to be renamed to MCV D113 in line with other articles such as MCV DD103; a split for the D123 may do good too if enough orders pick up for the tri-axle body.
I think its important to distinguish that the Volvo BZL is a chassis, And that the MCV Electric Buses (while made in partnership with Volvo) are also MCV products, which are essentially face-lifted Evora/Evoseti bodyworks.
- I get that philosophy for sure - the Wright Eclipse Gemini and the Volvo B7TL are/were significant enough for their own reasons to warrant separate articles. Here, as far as I'm aware, not a whole lot is being written in the trade press about the MCV D113 and single deck bodies on their own, certainly in the same way the press were bigging up the EvoSeti and Evora when they were new.
- My other concern, really, is the amount of information overlap currently and hypothetically present between the BZL and MCV articles. To that end, I'm not sure how I would address it, as the trade press naturally talks about the electric chassis as opposed to the body, and its not like bodies competing with MCV are being developed for the BZL. Might be good to seek a second opinion on it.
With reference to the D123 you appear to have been looking for a ‘DD123’ as i did initially, rather than ‘D123’ which most sources are pointing towards (especially considering the D113 EV).
- I realised a bit too late that you're right, hence the need for a shift around of categories on Commons. It was staring me right in the face when I was looking for the name! Not sure why they removed the extra D from the nameplate.
- Hopefully that should explain some of the hesitancy on my part to dive in on this article. Honestly, renaming this to MCV D113 (or something equivalent) might help the notability question by broadening the article's scope, but I'm eager to see what you think of it. - In reference to the bodies having no competition: I think this is mainly down to how Volvo are doing their buses now since they stopped producing bodyworks. Instead of making them themselves, they tend to partner with popular bodywork manufacturers to make a body or to produce an existing Volvo Bodywork for them. This is in contrast to the popular strategy of making an integrated body & chassis. I do believe the D113 EV is the only Double Deck BZL available (at least for now) too so obviously there isn’t much competition for it at the moment, and i expect it may stay this way for a little while as a result of Volvo’s new approach
- ‘D113 EV’ is actually what i was originally going to call this article, but later added the single deck ones as well. The single decks (C093 EV up to C123 EV) only really refer to the body spec and aren’t in the title of the brochure like the D113 EV. It may actually be better to simplify that section to focus more on the double decker bodywork (as you suggested) and link to the BZL page.
- Also, yes this is my first pro article. Though I have made edits to other UK bus-related pages before BlazeClone (talk) 09:01, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
