Mistake(s) in the 'Popular Culture' section

The 'Popular Culture' section, describing the pulse rifle being used in situations other than the 'Aliens' movies includes at least one error. It states that infantry in the game 'Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun' use the M41. This is a mistake; in the GDI intro, during the brief moment when the player views Commander McNiel's HUD, the ammunition for his pulse rifle is clearly stated to be .22 caliber - a caliber much to small to be used in the M41. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.204.103 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

If no one else comments on this, I am going to consider the matter closed and erase the reference to C&C: Tiberian Sun in the popular culture section. --167.206.204.101 (talk) 13:26, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

I am now deleting the reference to Tiberian Sun, as well as a reference to the M-41A being in the game Coded Arms, as the weapon in Coded Arms is an energy-firing, alien-made weapon, and looks nothing like the M-41A. Such a reference WOULD be proper in the Pulse Rifle disambiguation article, but not in an article on the M-41A. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 167.206.204.93 (talkcontribs) 23:04, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Flawed grenade launcher design?

If care must be taken to not push down the cap on the grenades of the under slung grenade launcher, then how are they loaded? Since it loads like a shot gun, you kind of half to put pressure on the cap when you push the already loaded grenades around. This leads me to believe that they had grenade rounds for show in the movie, but used special effects when they wanted it to look like it was exploding. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.242.10.254 (talkcontribs) 17:44, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

You mean the actors didn't use live ammunition while filming the movie? --Mgiganteus1 (talk) 20:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
So it may be a flaw in terms of practical use if someone were to make a real M41A (which some people have, or at least for show). But in terms of a special effects crew, they do whatever they can to get the job done. For example, I think I remember watching the commentary for Aliens, or possibly one of the extra discs in the quadrilogy, and hearing that they used wooden ammunition to make the muzzle flare show up better. Anyway, I agree with Mgiganteus in that you can't expect special effects (even when they're using real guns) to be completely accurate. --Trakon (talk) 04:46, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
While obviously it is pure fiction. I believe the answer to the above question is that the grenades have a cap that protects the detonator. When loading the grenades the cap is closed and the button cannot be depressed. We see Gorman flip the cap up before they press the button to detonate the grenade in the ventilation shaft. Ah I love Aliens. --Daniel J. Leivick (talk) 15:57, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

HK G36

Looks like the prop was built from an HK G36. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.174.22.20 (talkcontribs) 05:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I suppose the large carry handle on top gives it that resemblance. To me, though, the M41 has always looked like a development of the M16/M4 + M203 rifle/grenade launcher combination that remains popular with military forces today, and I suppose that was the basis at the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.61.200.145 (talkcontribs) 22:12, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Pulse Action

What does 'pulse action' mean, exactly? --PolarisSLBM (talk) 13:56, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I always assumed it meant the same thing as burst fire, but I'm not sure... --Trakon (talk) 20:12, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
I think it does mean burst fire as you can assertain that from the sound they make when firing. Indeed they are ordered to use short controlled bursts at one point in the movie. -- RND  T  C  13:10, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
