Lymbyc Systym Page Edits

[edit]

The Lymbyc Systym wiki page was edited to remove the elements that seemed promotional. It was made more concise, and only includes information that is documented by credible 3rd party sources (All Music Guide, Pitchfork, etc). Also, a list of sources was added.

I feel at this point, the page deserves recognition as a valid Wikipedia article.

Sources Documenting Lymbyc Systym's Importance

[edit]

"Lymbyc Systym's laptop post-rock is generated by brothers Jared and Michael Bell, who had previously been members of various bands in Tempe, AZ. Jared and Michael had been collaborating since their preteens, messing around with toy guitars and drum sets. They finally joined forces in 2001 for Lymbyc Systym, which balances acoustic instruments and programming. The two have since earned opening slots for such bands as the Album Leaf and Mice Parade. An EP, Carved by Glaciers (2005), was followed by Love Your Abuser (2007)."

- from [All Music Guide - Lymbyc Systym ]

This band meets several requirements for notability (CSD A7). They have two releases on a notable indie label, Mush Records. They toured internationally, including US, Canada and Japan. They have collaborated with several documented wiki artists, The Album Leaf, The One AM Radio, Her Space Holiday, etc. A simple google search shows a wealth of material on the band. The band has been featured in several respected Music Publications and media outlets, some listed below: [URB Magazine] [rcrdlbl.com] [KEXP Podcast] [Spin.com] [Live Music Blog] [Phoenix New Times] [Seattle Stranger] [Lodown (Germany)] [Devil In The Woods] [Prefix Magazine] [Rave Magazine (Australia)] [Drowned In Sound (UK)] [Pop Matters (UK)] [XLR8R download] [Earplug] [Seattle Stranger Interview] [Scene Point Blank] [Remix Magazine] [Spacelab Review] [lesinrock.com (France)]

suggestion for wikipedia template usage

[edit]

Here's a chat since I don't really care enough to type it up (not a regular contributor; just a user) but as a "bug report" kinda of thing (why doesn't wiki have that, for users to report stuff?): why does the template at the bottom of this page ( http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Lymbyc_Systym ) point to a band they are not a part of; it is very confusing for the reader's POV; either it shouldn't be there or more info should be given in the article about why it is there (like, say, a whole section's worth if it's important enough to have that boxd at the bottom).

Rose: i think there's a mistake on their wiki http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Lymbyc_Systym me: yeah wat Rose: why does it say Crystal Castles at hte bottom that's another band me: no they tour together a lot Rose: oh but i thought that was supposed to be the same band me: nope Rose: see http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Radiohead see the little box at the bottom is labeled "Radiohead" me: but see the bands that lymbyc system tours with always have them playing at they live shows with them Rose: not "Sigur Ros" or some other related band me: e.g., we will probably see lymbyc joining broken social scene Rose: uhh i know me: as very minor instruments in a few songs Rose: but why should that change the wiki that box should be about them! it's very confusing if you search for any other band, that little box is about them, not their tour partners me: yeah it is kinda confusing but lymbyc isn't big enough to have their own minisection in wiki Rose: then how come on crystal castles' page, their box is about them and not lymbyc me: but why they are an item in crystal castles' minisection contents, i dunno Rose: oh i didn't even notice that i just did not understand why on a webpage about one band, there is an informational template box about another band me: it would be better to have a item in the cc m/s about related bands that points to a small disambig page that points to multiple pages of bands yeah that is pretty confusing —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.42.154.151 (talk) 21:35, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
