Proposed deletion
[edit]- Keep – In response to the proposed deletion, I have a few counter-points I would like to make available for discussion.
- Unlike individual Law Enforcement Exploring chapters, which are small parts of a large organization, the LAPD Cadets are not part of any nationwide organization. They are not a sub-unit of any larger organization (except for the Los Angeles Police Department obviously). If this was an article about a single Explorer post that was a part of the more popular national organization, I would support deletion.
- The subject of the article is, in my opinion, notable largely due to the "Controversy" section, which involved news stories published in national news sources, including CNN.
- The above-mentioned history wouldn't really fit in the section in the Los Angeles Police Department article; there is already a fairly wordy section in there that fits nicely, and I think adding more information into that paragraph would make the section disproportionately large for such a section in the article.
- This is still a new page, less than a week old. Like most pages, I expect it to grow over time. I personally plan to research more information when I have the time, and it's been my experience that once you first publish an article, other editors generally end up contributing as well. I would like to have time to see how this page can grow before any decision about its removal is made.
These are just my thoughts, but of course, I welcome further discussion. Et0048 (talk) 20:51, 7 January 2018 (UTC)
Age Range
[edit]I've seen a few edits and reverts pertaining to the age range, whether it was changed from 21 to 18, and I can in fact confirm that on the website[1] it confirms that the age range is now from 13 to under 18. JJan818 (talk) 20:55, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
