Locations

Should Etobicoke and North York be separated from Toronto? They have been part of city of Toronto since 1998, and are seldom used as location names in recent times. Similarly, Port Credit is part of the city of Mississauga. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 02:05, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Etobicoke and North York are distinct areas. They may not have full legal recognition, but they certainly exist.

I don't know where the list of locations came from, but it's incomplete. I know for a fact that Peterborough has a Loblaw's. In fact, I'm enjoying their delicious chocolate chip cookies right now.24.235.156.135 (talk) 01:26, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm not denying they exist! Just saying the usage is archaic or historical, like saying East or West Berlin. I suppose it was copied from the drop-down box at the corporate website (see the infobox). The article's list of stores seems to be quite different from the website's, so our list probably needs an overhaul. I see the website does not show a store in Peterborough. Maybe it's a Real Canadian Superstore (which is covered by a separate article)? I notice a Peterborough store is on the RCSS website, but not on WP's RCSS store list. Make that 2 lists to overhaul. And don't eat too many cookies unless you intend to compensate by running a lap around the lift locks. --A Knight Who Says Ni (talk) 04:48, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Names

There are no Loblaws in the Maritimes under that name. They are known as Atlantic Superstore, but the store design and product selection are identical to the Loblaw stores in Ontario. Likewise in southwestern Ontario there are Zehr stores, which, like the Atlantic Superstores, differ from a Loblaw only in the name on the sign. The interiors and product selection are identical. Loblaw also owns Provigo in Quebec, and Save-Easy in the Maritimes. These carry the same product lines. Wrong "Loblaw" founder

I believe the reference to "Bob Loblaw" in the second paragraph should actually be "Theodore Pringle Loblaw". number of locations

I am questioning the number of locations (2000). This sounds unrealistic. It is similar to the number of Tim Hortons stores in Canada. To put this in perspective, the city I live in has 2 Loblaws stores and over 50 Tim Hortons stores. Their corporate website lists 400 market stores (Loblaws and other brands), 1,300 pharmacy locations (mainly Shoppers Drug Mart stores) and 500 discount markets (Real Canadian Superstore and other brands). If you go by that definition, that's indeed more than 2,000 locations. But only a small minority of those are actual Loblaws-branded supermarkets. Maribert (talk) 12:51, 14 August 2017 (UTC)
