Named after a Welsh town?
[edit]This needs expansion. I don't know whether it's Llandeilo (which was spelt without the E years ago) or whether it's the small Pembrokeshire settlement of LLandilo. 16:43, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- Good point. I've just stumbled upon this now and immediately asked myself the same question. Llandeilo (llan + (Saint) Teilo) is the correct spelling for both places with the form 'Llandilo' reflecting pronunciation in the local dialect for SW Wales. There are also several other small places called Llandeilo, each distinguished by an epithet e.g. Llandeilo Ferwallt, which complicates matters. As I'm tempted to write an article on this Llandilo (NSW) over on Welsh Wikipedia it would be helpful to know which Welsh Llandeilo was the original. I haven't a clue about that at the moment; could somebody here enlighten us? Is there anybody from the Llandilo, NSW area who has contributed here and might have access to information? (The Pembs Llandeilo/Llandilo is a rural parish, by the way). Enaidmawr (talk) 23:54, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, I was wondering about the Pembs one: I chose "settlement" precisely because I couldn't find enough information on it to be sure what it actually was! (I seem not to have signed my earlier comment properly. Bad show, me.) Loganberry (Talk) 00:44, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
- As the other examples of Llandeilo/Llandilo are all parishes and/or communities or very small villages I'd put my money on the obvious candidate, Llandeilo, but we can'r really say that without a reference. Must be available somewhere... Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes searching for 'missing links'! If I find something I'll get back on this but it's already rather late in the morning so I'll leave it for now. Enaidmawr (talk) 01:13, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
