notes re others on historic list or in other municipalities

[edit]

I'm getting tired, but just added almost everything on the Vancouver historic sites list and also the one for North Vancouver. Two that are not on there are Mission House and another mission centre in the Downtown Eastside, they're unlikely to have articles but not sure if they should be listed without them. Also in West Vancouver, which is the only other GV muni I've looked up so far St Francis-in-the-Wood in Caulfield is architecturally and historically notable; it may be on a heritage list, I don't know. Others in West Van qualify, but I'm done with this subject for today; I've noted on the AfDs for Neelix's articles the names of some of the notable and heritage churches in New Westminster which need articles and should be included. There are others. I may look up the Sikh Temples, as I think the Ross St Temple (SE Marine Drive) more than qualifies, and another one in Surrey - its "political" rival, not sure of its name, also.Skookum1 (talk) 09:13, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is expanded, if it survives its Afd, and as I've recommended to be "in the Lower Mainland" or "in the Vancouver area" then Gur Sikh Temple in Abbotsford certainly qualifies, it's the oldest Sikh Temple in Canada and a National Historic Site of Canada. The Ross St Temple doesn't have its own article, but there is an article on its resident/founding organization, the Khalsa Diwan Society Vancouver. No others in BC as yet have articles; some should, and the Ross St Temple does need its own article IMO. I haven't looked up mosques yet.....though called temples in English, the category name is the Sikh term Gurdwara i.e. Category:Gurdwaras in Canada.Skookum1 (talk) 09:19, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
