Notable residents
[edit]This needs to have some legitimate source backup. While I know that many of those listed in that section did indeed live/own property in Bolinas (I attended grade school with Walter Murch's daughter, for instance,) there are several people included in that list that seem erroneous. Proper reference is needed, or they should be removed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Athryn (talk • contribs) 23:06, 10 September 2006.
- Some of these are also linked deceptively. Deletion seems called for. UniversalSnip 21:21, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- I am in favor of a "major" revision to the "Notable People" section of the article. The list contains people of little real importance to the Bolinas community, and I think that might distort the article. Also it takes up about 1/3 of the page and I think that that is inane. I recently went to the trouble of creating a "List of notable people from Bolinas" page, and gave a Redirect to it within the article. This edit was undone, but the "deleted" list page still exists. :>:3 Thaavatar (talk) 18:48, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- You're talking to the wall. ;) These two users haven't been here for five years. Remember, that what is not important to you may not be consistent with what is important to others. We cannot assert changes to the article based on our preferences. The guidelines call for including all notable persons in the article, if there are reliable sources that link them to the geographical area, i.e., born in or resided in the area. This is not based on personal preference. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 16:17, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Basically every article about a town or city here on wp has a list of 'notable residents', it's just the way it is... The inclusion of a list of notables has been discussed since the inception of wp. If the list takes up 1/3 of the article then perhaps the other content (history, economy, etc.) is too short? -Travis Thurston+ 00:42, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
- Also, I'd suggest we go into each "notables" article and if Bolinas is not mentioned, remove them from the list.-Travis Thurston+ 01:30, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

- "From" ... does that means live there now, or used to? Or they visited over a long weekend? Coen and McDormand live in New York City, per Wiki article on them. Maybe 'Notable people connected in some way to Bolinas' is more appropriate as a title. Ah, trivia IS allowed when the Wiki-gods approve! 66.81.249.59 (talk) 12:30, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

- This problem is common with the "List of people from Foo" title; "List of Foo people" works better, I think. This is the language I used in the Stinson Beach article, under Stinson Beach People: "Residents, landowners, and summer people important in the development, life, and culture of Stinson Beach. Arrival or tenure is shown in square brackets. Birth and death dates are shown in parentheses." Annie Crotts would be in my List of Bolinas people, even if she would never have a WP article of her own.--Hjal (talk) 19:42, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Others
[edit]Frederick Crews and Alan Myerson, and his son Lincoln Myerson lived there.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 01:08, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- I can't find any sources linking Crews or Meyerson to Bolinas except for a couple of news stories about car accidents near Bolinas. Bolinas is not mentioned in their WP articles. Do you have links?--Hjal (talk) 21:44, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Dedicated to Bolinas
[edit]The jazz master, bass player, Steve Swallow composed a tune dedicated to Bolinas. "Hullo Bolinas": for example, Bill Evans playing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytQh82Kbtsw. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.55.206.121 (talk) 09:36, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
