Creation of page
[edit]I created this page to be part of Wikipedia's plan for a comprehensive guide to television. A few notes about what is offered:
- I used several other TV episode lists on Wikipedia as my guide to creating this one. My opening introduction hoefully provides a good capsule summary of the series.
- A listing of the series' DVD releases follows.
- A complete season-by-season guide is offered next with a brief introduction to each season. For the colored background I used a gray-scale for the first season, as all the episodes from that season were photographed in black and white. For the remaining three seasons (and also the TV reunion films) I used some "livelier" colors.
- I've noticed that most of the better episode guides at Wikipedia do not list the guest stars in the episodes. I have done so here since, as stated above, this is part of an attempt to be comprehensive. The cast lists and brief plot synopsis for each episode were derived from several sources, notably the two books listed in the reference section plus several websites (notably TV.com - which I find to be fairly useful although the cast lists are often presented oddly, i.e. Bit players listed before the main guests).
- The "check-lists" (appended after the episode lists) of directors and producers are hopefully of use to researchers. The guest stars list that includes a cross section of The Wild Wild West and Star Trek episodes might be considered "trivia" but, once again, comprehensiveness was the goal.
I'd like to see this page become part of the "Featured Lists" but for that I need some feedback. What can be done to achieve this goal? Is the page too short or too long? Is it too vague in spots or too padded in others? What needs to be added, deleted, or altered? I would appreciate any comments regarding this page. Jimknut (talk) 16:05, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
A couple of quick comments
[edit]Very nice work, I'm impressed. Just a few comments.
- I'd say the summary sections, Emmy Awards, Producers, Directors and Guest Stars, would work better in the main Wild Wild West article than here. Just add a paragraph to the lead which mentions the awards and most prolific in the other categories.
- In the list, I'd say the episode summaries should be placed above the guest stars (it would go in line with most of our other episode lists).
- Are all of the people listed as guest stars actually credited as guest stars? Are there also "special guest stars"? If so, they should also be noted.
- Some of the notes included in the summaries are interesting, but some of the ones about casting state things that can be learned by reading the list, and others seem a tad trivial. An example of the latter: "The lagoon from Gilligan's Island is used in this episode", interesting, but is it particularily notable? -- Scorpion0422 17:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the compliments. I'll take your suggestions under consideration. I agree that some of the material presented here would probably work better in the main article. Since I did not write the main article I'll have to see how I can integrate my material into it and yet retain a smooth flow of the narrative. I'll look into this within the next few days. [edit]In addition to “The Night of the Running Death” and “Mudd's Women”, she also appeared in “The Night of the Freebooters.” Psalm 119:105 (talk) 23:58, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
Tabulated Series / Season Numbers Appear to be Wrong
[edit]In the tables of Episodes, the columns marked "Series" and "Season" have entries that don't make sense. For Season One, the table shows Series# = Season# (1,1; 2,2; ... 25,25...) throughout. The other tables are also messed up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.132.24.95 (talk) 02:46, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

On the use of Production Codes
[edit]This listing uses something called "Production Codes" whose source is not given. I don't like to delete stuff, but it would seem to make a lot more sense to use the codes that are given in the show's credits, rather than what is shown here. Does anyone object if this done? __68.153.113.224 (talk) 22:30, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
Correct airdate for Night of the Flaming Death?
[edit]I'm seeing a split in internet sources on whether "The Night of the Flaming Death" was the 18th episode airing on Jan 21 1966 prior to "The Night of the Grand Emir," or if it was episode 19 airing on Feb 4 1066 AFTER "Emir." The DVD cover shows it as 18th/Jan 21. I can find no other source substantiating either date. Link to image of the dvd cover: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91DtXBRe1XL._AC_SL1500_.jpg Not sure how to resolve this. No indication anywhere it was bumped. Help? - I take it back, I tracked down some other sources & checked more places, the dates here (which match the DVD) are correct. JamesG5 (talk) 14:50, 10 March 2020 (UTC)
