Last Circus

[edit]

The Last Circus should be moved to the Science fiction, fantasy, and horror section, as it sure falls under the last two categories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.87.19.198 (talk) 21:11, 25 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clunky and unsourced list

[edit]

The list, wholly unsourced, looks like a bad case of original research. I suspect that a list of films (and TV series now too) in which a big subset merely features a 20th-century setting in Spain is not what the reader is looking for when opening a list of Spanish Civil War (1936−39) films. Is there something (a novel POV, perhaps) that I am missing? Pending the provision of actual sources (there is none) and adequate context, I am tempted to boldly and drastically trim the unsourced list. The post-1939 Maquis-related guerrilla films may also be left out, even if in this case there can be a case for continuity and for a different (yet fringe) POV. The story of a feral child in 1960s Andalusia, the biopic of a gay poet in 1959 Barcelona, a TV miniseries about a rascal thriving in Late Francoist Barcelona, a fictionalised version of the 1965 unchairing of professors in the University of Madrid, the retelling of the last Francoist execution in 1974, a romance in 1950s Andalusia, to name a few, are not Spanish Civil War films in a sufficiently meaningful way.--Asqueladd (talk) 19:37, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have added many films about post-war Spain. I'd rather put them in a list of movies about Frankish Spain or something. Unknown4321unknown (talk) 19:44, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For a specific decade with have the intersection of Category:Films set in the 20th century (and subcategories) and Category:Films set in Spain. If by "post-War Spain"/"Frankish Spain" you mean films set in any point of time from 1939 to 1975 (I deduce this from the set of films above, even if the posguerra española is generally understood to be a briefer yet ill-defined period), the scope of films set in a country for a nearly four-decade period of the 20th century is too wide and unspecific to warrant a list of kind of article, If you ask me. Take in mind that perhaps the majority of films produced during the Francoist regime may take place in a contemporary setting. Further time specification and topical specification too are needed to define a useful list. For Maquis guerrilla fighting (from the civil war to about 1965, at most) we have a category: Category:Films about the Spanish Maquis. I do not think it currently warrants a complementary "list of" article, but you could try if using quality sources.--Asqueladd (talk) 20:55, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
