Category:Teen films

This film is occasionally categorized in the teen film category. I should note the description:

This is a list of "teen films," movies centering around the lives of teenagers, with teens as the target audience.

Legally Blonde was not about teens, it is set in law school, and all of the characters are in their mid-20s at least. Neither was it marketed exclusively to teen viewers like most films in the category.--Fallout boy 01:21, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Legally Blonde 3?

  • Another Sequel for Legally Blonde was in script devolpment in early 2005 (Simply Called Legally Blonde 3) which was to take Elle into the "London, England" enviorment. The Director of Legally Blonde 2 originally said "I want Elle to somehow go to London and walk into a bar. That would be so hilarious." But after Reese Withrspoon declined to return the project was set to replace Elle and be realsed direct to Dvd. But then the script changed to having the main character be Elle, Elle's friends Margo and Serena, Elle's Cousin, Elle and Emmet's future daughter and nothing seemed to work right without Reese Witherspoon returning so eventually all plans were dropped completly.

I've searched for ages for proof on this fact, but haven't found any. Not even on the doccumentry about the film or the sequal, contains any info on Legally Blonde 3...so I've removed it. Unless, someone can come forward and say where they found the info. Jackp 17:49, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

It was on something like movietome or DVDcomingsoon.net, something like that. I can't remember that well lol. 69.47.130.72 01:28, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

On the official website of Brookwell McNamara Entertainment, 'Legally Blonde 3 (2007)' appears under 'Film' in their Portfolio page. Here is a link to the page [1]. I hope this helps! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.230.181.14 (talk) 23:05, August 23, 2007 (UTC)

The new Legally Blonde 3 movie is called "Legally Blondes," not LB3 or Legally Blonde 3. It comes out on DVD April 28, 2009. Here is the direct link to a preview and to preorder the title on amazon. Hope this helps everyone yhat was looking for info on this movie. http://www.amazon.com/Legally-Blondes-Milly-Becky-Rosso/dp/B001RP974W/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1238061136&sr=8-1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.123.124.184 (talk) 10:05, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

The link in the text currently goes to a different Amanda Brown, a voice actress. Someone who cares might want to make a disambiguation page 71.232.101.250 02:21, 6 August 2006 (UTC)DaveMB

Location of Filming

The current page lists the filming location as UCLA; many of the exterior shots were filmed at USC.

More Content?

Although this article has a good description of the story in the movie, it lacks important encyclopedic content of features and elements used in the movie eg. the blonde stereotype etc. -RossyMiles 09:53, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Musical

I'll let somebody more familiar with the stageshow format for Wikipedia to flesh out the entry, but the show just debuted in San Francisco and will be on Broadway shortly.

What about the Apple iBook?

I'm currently watching the movie right now on Comedy Central and maybe thought that we should make a cultural reference to the Mac since it was in the movie and that is probably one of the reasons that the Mac is becoming so popular. It was one of the colorful iBooks, which was orange in the movie and thought that it would make a great example of being different and trying to fit in and a whole perspective of what the movie is kind of all about. One scene I remember just seeing is when Elle is in the classroom with here iBook and everone else is using those black laptops. So what do you think? Should this be put into the article? --JoeMonkeyPotato (talk) 02:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Merger proposal

I've been looking at the article on Elle Woods, and it really doesn't seem to have much substance to me. The article is completely unsourced, most of the information present is nothing more than trivia, and it refers mostly to Elle's character in this film while ignoring (for the most part) the novel, other films, and stage musical. I think it might be best to merge any relevant information into this article (or the articles on the stage musical and other films) and go ahead and delete the article on Elle Woods. Thoughts? —Mears man (talk) 22:01, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey, go right ahead! :)--PeaceNT (talk) 14:26, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Please do. --212.216.137.74 (talk) 09:35, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, pretty obviously needs doing. GO! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.203.51.210 (talk) 02:16, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Grabbing this one. Will look over for edits needing to be made. Rusted AutoParts 03:54, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

  • Lead
    • Lead shouldn't have sources, all sources should be moved to their respective sections.
    • Some accolades mentioned in lead are not mentioned in the Accolades section.
✅Removed sources from lede and moved accolades to their respective section. The lorax (talk) 23:23, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
  • Plot
    • Plot is under 700 words per WP:FILMPLOT, so good on that front.
    • Not sure if certain linked words need the link. For example, East Coast.
✅ Unlinked East Coast.The lorax (talk) 17:06, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
  • Production
    • The two pictures in Background and Filming need to be scaled back in size. 350px is egregious.
✅Fixed.The lorax (talk) 23:23, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
    • Who is the quote in Background attributed to?
✅Quoted Amanda Brown.The lorax (talk) 23:23, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
I also added a quote box with Brown explaining how her book was bought by MGM.The lorax (talk) 01:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
With that addition, I'd shift the picture of Smith, Luketic and Lutz to the left. Rusted AutoParts 05:13, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
✅ Moved. The lorax (talk) 12:27, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
    • Background as a whole could benefit from a copyedit. Some paragraphs could be merged into the other.
    • Same with Development.
    • Is the information about the costume designer and Witherspoon really prudent to the film? Did Parton's fashion style impact the costuming decisions?
I think so, I expanded this section and added a quote that the two became friends on set. The lorax (talk) 01:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
    • Several paragraphs in filming could also be merged together.
✅ Done. The lorax (talk) 01:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
    • The bend and snap section I don't feel is warranting of it's own subsection. Put the info in Filming.
✅ Merged section.The lorax (talk) 17:06, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
✅ Updated photo with much more recent, higher-quality one. The lorax (talk) 00:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
  • Reception
    • Critical response as a whole needs alot more critic reviews, to help showcase the positive to negative responses as well as bolster the Witherspoon praise.
✅ I added a whole bunch more reviews, including several negative reviews. The lorax (talk) 20:26, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
I also added a legal accuracy section with input from legal experts. The lorax (talk) 01:29, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
    • Accolades leaves alot to be desired. I suggest implementing an Accolades table, so additional accolades and nominations can be included. Looking at it's Awards section on IMDB, the film was recognized by the Costume Designers Guild Awards, the MTV Movie Awards (mentioned before in Lead section unsourced) and the Satellite Awards.
✅ Added table for awards.The lorax (talk) 18:34, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
    • The last paragraph really isn't relevant to critical reception, would apply more to a Legacy section. But that section should have several more indications of a long standing legacy aside from inspiring an interview and a reference in an Ariana Grande song.
✅ Created new Legacy section and included quotes from a few law students who said the movie inspired them to go to law school. The lorax (talk) 17:45, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Hmm, those additions don't really feel like they constitute Legacy. I was looking at the Legacy section of Blade Runner, and while I wouldn't say LB needs to be in that vein, it's Legacy section feels more like an "IN popular culture type deal. Rusted AutoParts 18:06, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
How would you suggest improving it? Do the quotes from law students add anything? It seemed apt to mention the influence the movie has had among aspiring law students, but we can cut the section if you think the article is better without it. The lorax (talk) 00:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
  • Soundtrack
    • Needs a citation.
✅ Cited release date and linked to awards. The lorax (talk) 17:07, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

✅ Fixed. The lorax (talk) 21:59, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

✅ Went back and sourced the Musical section. The lorax (talk) 14:23, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
  • References
    • six references came up with rather hefty copyvios. Rewording the sentences using said sources would be helpful.
The highlighted portions look like quotes from Witherspoon in the Hollywood Reporter, which are sourced. The lorax (talk) 21:59, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
    • Archive all sources and ensure dead links are replaced or removed.
| Looks like they're all backed up here. The lorax (talk) 05:04, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

That should do it for the review. Address these and I'll be back in a week. Rusted AutoParts 04:14, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

@The lorax: added a few new notes. Rusted AutoParts 18:06, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
@Rusted AutoParts:, I've responded to your notes — I wonder if it's better to just nuke the Legacy section? Let me know what you suggest to do! The lorax (talk) 00:36, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
@The lorax: Potentially. I do think the inspiration it had on women in particular to go to law school is of worth. But maybe not so much the fact Witherspoon retained costumes from the film, or Grande paying homage to the film in a music video. Rusted AutoParts 00:49, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
@Rusted AutoParts: Okay, I cut out those grafs. The lorax (talk) 01:09, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

I'll revisit this page on August 1. I think that date is a solid due date to conclude this review. Rusted AutoParts 17:28, 26 July 2020 (UTC) @The lorax: just pinging so you know. Would hate if I happened to fail it before you knew I was setting a due date. Rusted AutoParts 03:35, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

@The lorax: I think the last thing I can think of would be the isolated quotes from Witherspoon and De Rakoff in Development and Costume design could be put in their own quote boxes ala Amanda Brown's. There's also still some sentences within the Filming section that should be merged together ("Although the film was primarily set at Harvard University, campus scenes were filmed at USC,[20] University of California, Los Angeles,[21] California Institute of Technology, and Rose City High School in Pasadena, California.[22]" with "Production initially lasted from October to December 2000.[23][24]", The Witherspoon quote about the bend and snap can be put together with the paragraph above it). Rusted AutoParts 21:35, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
@Rusted AutoParts:, done, let me know if that looks all good? The lorax (talk) 01:05, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
Pass. Rusted AutoParts 04:40, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
